In the afternoon, Jiang Chen had Lin Rumei send Lin Jingzhu and the others to the airport, while he, Lin Rumei, and Ding Yan headed to Eight Immortals Ridge.
At that moment, a Feng Shui Ritual was taking place at Eight Immortals Ridge, hosted by the eldest disciple of Gu Yun Nan. Located in the western suburbs of Hong Kong Island, Eight Immortals Ridge got its name from the legend that the Eight Immortals once resided there, as it features eight peaks. The mountains are not particularly high, with the tallest reaching only seven hundred meters. Lin Rumei parked the car in the lot at the foot of the mountain, and Jiang Chen got out to take a look.
"Hey, Mr. Jiang, it's strange. It's not even autumn yet, but all the trees at Eight Immortals Ridge have turned yellow. Still, they look quite beautiful," Lin Rumei remarked with a smile. The area is predominantly filled with Wutong trees, so even in their yellowing state, they exuded a unique charm.
"This Feng Shui Ritual today is likely related to these yellowing trees," Jiang Chen replied. While Lin Rumei couldn't see it, Jiang Chen noticed a thin layer of earthy yellow energy swirling among the trees of Eight Immortals Ridge. This energy was not malevolent; rather, it was Earth Spirit Energy.
Earth Spirit Energy is not to be confused with Earthly Fiendish Aura. The former is the essence of the land that nourishes flourishing plants and flowers; prolonged absorption of Earth Spirit Energy can grant plants intelligence, allowing them to become spirits of nature. In contrast, Earthly Fiendish Aura is toxic to the land and can cause plants to wither and mountains to become barren.
The yellowing vegetation at Eight Immortals Ridge was not due to an invasion of Earthly Fiendish Aura but rather a leakage of Earth Spirit Energy. Under normal circumstances, Earth Spirit Energy from mountains and lands does not easily escape without external forces.
Jiang Chen extended his consciousness to scan Eight Immortals Ridge and quickly realized that someone had set up a formation there to force out the Earth Spirit Energy, which was now flowing toward a specific location.
"Let's go take a look," Jiang Chen suggested before leading Lin Rumei and Ding Yan up the steps into Eight Immortals Ridge.
The trees along the stone path were tall, but most of the vegetation appeared wilted and lifeless; what was once lush green now alternated between yellow and green, lacking vitality. Upon reaching the mountain peak, they found quite a crowd gathered there.
Most attendees were dressed in Tang suits or Zhongshan suits from the Feng Shui community. As Jiang Chen surveyed the area, he noticed that the Earth Spirit Energy was flowing toward a grave.
He approached the grave and looked at the tombstone in front of it. It bore three characters: "Artifact Tomb." In front of the tomb stood an elderly man in a Zhongshan suit, his hands clasped behind his back as he gazed solemnly at the Artifact Tomb.
This elderly man was Jia Xingliang, Gu Yun Nan's eldest disciple and Hong Kong Island's foremost Feng Shui Master. With Gu Yun Nan having retreated from public life over recent years due to his age, Jia Xingliang had become a leading figure in Hong Kong Island's Feng Shui community. Some even claimed that Jia Xingliang had surpassed his master.
"Strange, what is this Artifact Tomb? I've never heard of it before," Lin Rumei said curiously.
"As its name implies, it contains a buried artifact," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
"Why would someone bury an artifact here?" Lin Rumei asked, even more puzzled.
"Just wait and see," Jiang Chen said lightly. He too was unsure of what Jia Xingliang intended to do and could only observe patiently.
"President Jia, let's open the tomb," a Feng Shui Master whispered. Jia Xingliang was the President of the Hong Kong Island Feng Shui Association, and most of the Feng Shui Masters present were members of the association.
