"What exactly do you want?"
The words slipped from Hua Yu Yan's lips, only to be met with a dismissive snort from Ouyang Zhirou.
What do I want? Brother Zhao Lun is mine; he promised to marry me! We are bound by a marriage contract, and I will take him with me—he is mine!
The three of them looked on in shock; she, like Ouyang Zhirou, also had a marriage contract with Zhao Lun!
I know that Brother Zhao Lun has other engagements besides mine, and you, Ouyang Zhirou, are one of them. But he can only belong to me; you are simply unworthy!
The word "unworthy" pierced through Ouyang Zhirou and Lin Mu Xi like a needle, leaving them stung.
"You're talking nonsense!" Ouyang Zhirou and Lin Mu Xi retorted in unison.
"Oh, you, Lin Mu Xi, a foolish woman as dumb as a pig—do you really think you deserve to stay by Brother Zhao Lun's side? Being toyed with by Wang Ju'en like a dog time and again, do you truly believe you are worthy?"
"And you, Ouyang Zhirou, don’t think your little schemes can fool anyone. Your father, Ouyang Xiong, is falling further into decline; your mother's death dealt him an immeasurable blow. Can you honestly say that your initial intention wasn’t to swallow up all of Daddy Zhao’s assets and dominate the lake?"
"I don’t know what methods you used to enchant Brother Zhao Lun, but such things will never happen again."
After saying this, she glanced at Hu Yao but said nothing more.
Hua Yu Yan's words were like a noose tightening around Ouyang Zhirou and Lin Mu Xi, cutting deeply.
Ouyang Zhirou stared at Hua Yu Yan in disbelief. How could she know so much? It was true that she had once harbored such thoughts, but now her love for Zhao Lun ran deep; yet Hua Yu Yan did not mention it at all.
Lin Mu Xi felt as if struck by lightning upon hearing Hua Yu Yan's words; she was frozen in place, each word striking her heart.
She was the only one among them without a marriage contract, the only one who couldn’t compare to anyone else in their group. She thought herself clever for choosing the right path by following Zhao Lun and winning him back. She believed she had succeeded without realizing that everything was part of Wang Ju'en's calculations; she remained a mere pawn in his game.
As these thoughts consumed her, her head hung lower and lower, lost in confusion.
As Ouyang Zhirou and Lin Mu Xi fell into silence, time continued to flow without pause.
"Hua Yu Yan, Brother Zhao Lun could never like you!" Lin Mu Xi screamed out, suddenly enlightened. The answer to this question was simple: aside from Zhao Lun, she could give up everything else!
Whether he liked her or not didn’t matter; as long as he was by her side, over time he would surely develop feelings for her.
As these thoughts raced through Hua Yu Yan's mind, she envisioned a future life with Zhao Lun. Her gaze grew distant as various emotions—shame, beauty, happiness—washed over her. She instinctively squeezed her legs together, a blush creeping onto her face.
In the blink of an eye, she pulled herself from that fantasy and waved her hand to summon Brother Zhao Lun over. "I’m taking him home!"
Just then, as two men stepped out from behind Hua Yu Yan, Lin Mu Xi and Hu Yao both took a step forward.
"Ouyang Zhirou! What are you doing? Do you really believe everything she says? You dared to compete with me back then, and now you're just going to give up because of her words?"
After being scolded by Lin Mu Xi, Ouyang Zhirou suddenly came to a realization.
That's right! No matter what she says, my feelings for Zhao Lun will not change!
With this thought, Ouyang Zhirou's gaze gradually became resolute. She took a step forward and said to Lin Mu Xi, "Thank you, you vixen."
"You're welcome, Dead Green Tea."
Clap, clap, clap.
