In reality, many people have only a partial understanding of the true significance represented by our Public Welfare Rescue team. Many often jump to conclusions, believing that our organization carries a certain degree of commercial intent. This misunderstanding frequently leads to various murmurs and discussions even in the tense and critical moments of rescue operations. People whisper among themselves, questioning whether there are economic interests driving our actions.
However, as time slowly passed, the situation began to change. Through numerous successful rescue missions and continuous promotion efforts, we started to be recognized and understood by an increasingly broad audience. Not only that, but many enterprises and institutions also gained a deeper understanding of us. Gradually, the voices of doubt faded away, replaced by greater trust and support.
It is heartening that when we appeared at rescue sites again, there was no longer just skepticism and debate. On the contrary, many beneficiaries who had received help stepped forward to speak on our behalf, explaining our purely philanthropic nature and spirit of selfless dedication. These individuals shared their deeply moving stories from personal experiences, helping more people realize that we were not pursuing commercial interests but genuinely wanting to save lives and spread warmth.
Regardless of how hard we worked to complete our tasks, there would always be a small group of people whispering and pointing fingers behind us. I remained quite indifferent to these idle remarks, treating them as if I hadn’t heard them at all. After all, mouths are attached to other people; how they choose to speak is their business. I only needed to focus on my own work.
However, not everyone could remain as calm as I was. Some teammates were notoriously impatient. Whenever they heard those unpleasant discussions, they could hardly contain their anger and felt compelled to confront those individuals. The result was often a stalemate where both sides held firm to their opinions, sometimes leading to heated arguments that made the situation quite awkward.
One day, as the sun began to set in the west, it seemed as if an invisible hand was slowly drawing down the curtain on the day. We were out in the field searching for a target individual, exhausted both physically and mentally. As the sun was about to disappear below the horizon and night was approaching, we decided to regroup and prepare for a brief rest while waiting for the family members to arrive for final communication.
At that moment, someone nearby remarked: "They really know how to pick their timing! They must be hoping for a dinner arrangement from the family!" Initially, we didn’t pay much attention to this comment; after all, such baseless speculation was far too common. However, as family members began arriving at the scene one after another, that person continued to chatter on with the same remarks, which irritated some members of our team.
Finally, one teammate could no longer contain their anger and quickly approached that person, stating firmly: "Please do not make unfounded assumptions or slander us. We returned on time due to mission-related reasons, not because of what you imply." I thought this explanation would quell the storm; however, unexpectedly, that person dismissed it and continued muttering quietly beside us.
