As we returned to the unit filled with joy and anticipation, the excitement from our field training still lingered. However, reality hit us like a bucket of cold water, pulling us back from our fantasies to the harsh truth that we were about to face an intense and exhilarating competition—the Group Army Competition! 0

This competition involved a wide range of subjects that were both numerous and challenging, including the daunting Armed Cross-Country, the obstacle-laden Obstacle Course, the strength and skill-testing Long-Distance Grenade Throw and precision throwing events, shooting with high accuracy requirements, and Military Geography that demanded a deep reservoir of military knowledge. More importantly, this competition was not just a test of individual abilities; it was centered around entire units, meaning teamwork and overall strength would be key factors in determining victory. 0

Despite the approaching day of discharge, every soldier maintained a focused mindset. On the contrary, they understood that this Group Army Competition was not only the last major mission of their military careers but also an excellent opportunity to showcase their value and bring glory to their unit. Thus, everyone put in tremendous effort, fully dedicating themselves to the intense and grueling preparation training. 0

In the lead-up to the competition, we embarked on a rigorous and targeted training journey. To stand out in this fierce contest, we invested considerable time in high-intensity physical training while also delving deeply into various tactical methods. After some time, our training results began to show promising improvements. 0

The entire team was as busy as we were. Each Company was fully committed to preparation, acutely aware of the importance of this competition; thus, no one dared to slack off. Due to limited training facilities, there were lively scenes of Companies vying for space. Some Companies even started training early in the morning just to secure their desired spots. 0

We were no exception; after finishing breakfast each day, we hurriedly rushed to the training ground without taking a moment's rest. Fortunately, our Company was relatively close to the training field, giving us a slight advantage in securing space. With this geographical edge and the relentless efforts of all members, our Company maintained a winning rate of over ninety percent in previous mock competitions. 0

However, faced with such high odds of success, we did not become complacent. During that time, our training schedule was packed; each day required us to complete up to seven or eight training tasks. Initially, we focused on mastering basic skills and recovering our physical condition while gradually increasing difficulty according to a step-by-step principle. As training progressed, we began concentrating on every detail and addressing our shortcomings through repeated practice and targeted strengthening. 0

Not long after receiving notification, the official start date arrived swiftly. This transition period felt so brief that it seemed like in the blink of an eye we had arrived at the thrilling competition day. That morning, sunlight filtered through thin clouds and illuminated the expansive training ground. We had already donned our neat uniforms and gathered here with spirits high and poised demeanor. 0

Before long, the Chief of the group army judging panel approached with steady strides. His expression was serious and solemn as he clearly articulated all rules and requirements that needed to be followed before the competition began. Then he delivered an impassioned speech that inspired every soldier present to fight valiantly and strive for excellence. 0

With the Chief's powerful command issued, the atmosphere instantly ignited to its peak. Everyone shot forward like arrows released from bows as they plunged into this two-day intense competition. In an instant, shouts of battle echoed across the field amidst swirling dust; everywhere was infused with a strong sense of combat. 0

Each Company was filled with fighting spirit as we commenced with shooting as our first event. Upon arriving at the shooting range and preparing everything needed—due to drawing lots for order—we found ourselves third in line. The first two Companies finished quickly; our Company Commander sneaked a glance at their scores before returning to motivate us by saying one Company performed poorly while another did decently but assured us that surpassing them should not be an issue given our capabilities. Hearing this eased everyone's evident tension. 0

I was in the first group; following our usual training protocols, I executed a series of actions swiftly after receiving the signal from the range officer to disengage safety and shoot. With focused concentration, I fired my first shot under favorable weather conditions and good visibility. We fired several rounds quickly; when it came time for judges to tally scores, we could verify targets ourselves. I hurriedly ran over—hey! Not bad! I didn’t embarrass myself—and glanced at my comrades’ targets which also looked decent. I thought to myself that our Company should be fine now. 0

Returning to my unit after watching wave after wave of comrades finish shooting, I asked several about their scores; some results were still below expectations but overall everyone surpassed passing marks. When final scores were announced, our Company Commander declared us temporarily in first place—everyone was ecstatic! 0

With a perfect conclusion to the first event behind us, we gained more confidence for upcoming challenges. The next event was Armed Cross-Country—a subject not exactly our strong suit—but at least it could earn us points. Everyone adjusted their mindset at the starting line; upon hearing the command given by our Team Leader, we began running five kilometers together. 0

The initial pace and unity were good; however, by the first kilometer mark some comrades with lower stamina struggled to keep up with the group’s rhythm since overall scores depended on recording the last runner’s time. We started supporting each other—some pushed others along while others untied backpacks for assistance or shouted encouragements like “C’mon brother! We’re almost there! Don’t give up! Hurry!” Though these words might sound ordinary during regular times, they provided immense strength when one’s body reached its limits in pain and despair. 0

Just then I heard our Team Leader shout “Only 100 meters left! Push!” At that moment everyone seemed to find hidden reserves of energy; gritting teeth and widening eyes they surged forward until finally even the last comrade crossed the finish line successfully. Exhausted, we collapsed onto nearby grass patches—each drenched in sweat with flushed faces—but everyone showed concern for one another: “Are you okay? Here let me help you take off your gear.” Even those teammates who struggled physically sat awkwardly alone resting without anyone blaming them; instead jokes flew around like “It’s fine! Just lose some weight!” 0

I felt my performance was average this time but unexpectedly it turned out to be our best result since training began—apparently before the competition our Company Commander had quietly instructed our Team Leader to increase speed significantly; no wonder some comrades nearly couldn’t keep up later on. 0

After a brief rest period came into view an expansive grenade throwing area. Following such intense running training earlier everyone’s bodies had warmed up completely—muscles taut and blood pumping—as if all strength awaited release at this moment. Facing upcoming grenade throwing events filled everyone with confidence! 0

In distance throwing competitions warriors showcased their unique skills and impressive arm strength as they gripped grenades tightly before sprinting forward; twisting their waists then swinging arms fluidly—the grenades shot forth like arrows released from bows tracing beautiful arcs through air. For these battle-hardened soldiers throwing distances were mere trifles; cheers erupted frequently as grenades landed steadily far away. 0

In contrast while precision throwing posed certain challenges it did not hinder soldiers’ performances at all. They focused intently on targets adjusting breaths before gently tossing grenades which hit bullseyes accurately—even comrades who usually performed averagely exceeded expectations today delivering stunning throws that astonished everyone achieving outstanding levels overall! The entire training ground buzzed with an atmosphere woven from tension mixed with joy. 0

The first day’s events were tightly scheduled stretching from dawn until dusk fell upon us. Throughout this entire day competitions proceeded intensely yet thrillingly—and what delighted us most was how well everyone performed! The results achieved not only met previously set expectations but even surpassed original hopes significantly—this undoubtedly brought immense encouragement and confidence to our entire team. 0
