The man pulled her into his embrace and softly said, "Even if you are the Mountain Demon, I still want you." 0

It was a sleepless night, not driven by desire, but by Qi Chong's curiosity. He asked numerous questions, and Yu Chunmiao felt her eyelids growing heavy, yet he showed no signs of stopping. 0

"I'm really tired right now. Please, let’s talk about this tomorrow," she pleaded. 0

Eventually, Yu Chunmiao fell asleep, dreaming of nothing. Qi Chong, however, was too excited to sleep, his mind racing with thoughts of a hundred-story building, lights brighter than day, sending people up into the sky like an airplane. Wasn’t that a paradise in the summer breeze with air conditioning? Yet she insisted she wasn’t a fairy. 0

The next morning, Qi Chong got up with dark circles under his eyes to prepare breakfast. Chen Ruolan noticed his disheveled appearance but couldn’t help but smile at him. She playfully kicked his thigh and scolded, "You need to control yourself; don’t keep Yu Chunmiao up all night." 0

Qi Chong looked bewildered for a moment before responding, "What are you talking about? I didn’t do anything." 0

Chen Ruolan kicked him again and said, "You’re saying you didn’t? Look at your eyes; they’re so dark you could use them to grind ink." 0

At that moment, Yu Chunmiao entered the kitchen with messy hair and a yawn. Chen Ruolan immediately changed her expression to one of concern and guided her back inside. "Yu Chunmiao, you look exhausted. Go back and get some more sleep; I’ll call you when breakfast is ready." 0

"I'm not tired," Yu Chunmiao insisted. 0

"How could you not be tired? Look at Qi Chong! You must not have slept well last night," Chen Ruolan replied as she pushed her back into the room for a nap. 0

Qi Chong felt wronged; he was the one who was tired! 0

Yu Chunmiao had barely laid down when she remembered her mother-in-law mentioning going to town that day. With only the couple left to manage things at home, she got up to wash and comb her hair instead. 0

She styled her hair into two fishbone braids that cascaded down her chest and felt satisfied after giving them a pat before heading to the backyard to wash up. 0

Once finished in the kitchen, she found Qi Chong and Chen Ruolan already seated at the dining table. Qi Chong was diligently blowing on a bowl of porridge when he saw her come in. He quickly made space for her beside him. "Here, I’ve cooled it down for you; it’s just right to eat now." 0

As soon as Yu Chunmiao sat down, Qi Chong picked up a boiled egg and began peeling it for her. He placed an intact egg without any cracks into her bowl, followed by a pair of chopsticks filled with pickled radish and smashed cucumber. 0

Qi Chong grinned widely; he hadn’t stopped smiling since Yu Chunmiao entered the room. 0

As Qi Yuan sipped his porridge, his eyes never left his elder brother. He looked like a devoted husband, even more so than Qi Fu. He thought to himself that when he got married, he wouldn’t be like his brother. He would make sure his wife would serve him porridge, peel eggs, and pick up dishes for him. 0

Today, Qi Chong was indeed a bit excessive. While eating, his gaze was fixed on Yu Chunmiao, a smile of infatuation plastered across his face, showing no intention of hiding it at all. 0

Yu Chunmiao kicked him under the table and reminded him to give Yuan Er some money later since they were out of cooking oil at home and needed him to buy more. 0

Qi Chong responded with an "oh" and continued as usual. Looking at her expression, it seemed as if she were the dish on the table. 0

Yu Chunmiao could hardly stand it anymore; she gulped down her food and got up from the table. She headed to the kitchen and started a fire to cook some grass jelly. 0

While washing the grass jelly, she noticed the water barrel was empty and was about to fetch it when a large hand snatched it away. 0

Qi Chong took the opportunity to peck her cheek and said, "Fairy, sit tight while I fetch the water. Later, tell me how fast that Dong Che is." 0
