Wu Dayong came to Beishan Village this time to find Shi Song. After asking the village chief and the villagers, he learned that someone matching the old man's description had gone to the Qi Family, so he decided to try his luck.
However, he didn’t find Shi Song but instead encountered Qi Chong, which he felt was a stroke of good fortune for the day. Qi Chong, on the other hand, felt that today was quite unlucky.
Yu Chunmiao knew that she would have to work late again tonight to prepare the Xian Cao. With a stern expression, Qi Chong walked to the door, ignoring Wu Dayong as if he didn’t exist. The watchdog that had been barking turned into a friendly whimper.
When the door opened, Qi Chong pushed Yu Chunmiao into the courtyard and shut the gate behind them. Qi Yuan pointed at the entrance and asked, “Sister-in-law, who is that person?”
Yu Chunmiao shrugged her shoulders and replied, “Just a pest. Let’s not bother with him; let’s focus on our work.”
Wu Dayong, ever enthusiastic, patted Qi Chong on the arm and said, “I told you we’re fated to meet! Young man, may I ask your name? I only know your surname is Qi.”
Qi Chong replied coldly, “What do you want at my house? How do you know where I live? If you know my home, then surely you know my name too. Don’t play tricks!”
Wu Dayong hurriedly explained, “You’re mistaken, Young Master Qi! I’m here looking for Old Immortal Shi. I heard he came by your place and wanted to ask about him. Meeting you is even more exciting than finding Old Immortal!”
Qi Chong felt an urge to move away; he rubbed his temples and said, “Old Immortal hasn’t been to my house. I don’t know him; you should leave!”
Wu Dayong insisted, “That’s not right! He must have come here since you’re the only family around. Where else could he have gone?”
He sniffed the air again and added, “Your Xian Cao Tea smells wonderful! I’ve traveled all day and am extremely thirsty under this blazing sun. How about letting me sit in your house for a bit?”
Qi Chong pointed towards the villagers coming from the mountain and said, “Look at them; they’re coming here too, but they didn’t come to my house. You’re here today as well; it doesn’t mean you’ll come to my house.”
The villagers chattered as they approached, spotting two horses standing nearby.
“Qi Chong!” one of them called out. “We’ve decided to try what you suggested!”
Qi Chong turned his back to the villagers and didn’t respond. He wasn’t interested in their decisions at all.
Seeing that Qi Chong ignored them, the villagers realized they might have overstepped while speaking on the mountain and offered a few apologies before leaving.
“Come on now,” Wu Dayong patted Qi Chong’s back again. “See? Fate works like this! Even if I don’t seek you out, I can still run into you. If you don’t tell me your name, I’ll find out anyway.”
Qi Chong took two steps back to create distance between them. “Speak all you want but keep your hands to yourself.”
Before Wu Dayong could say anything else, Qi Chong leaped towards the courtyard wall and effortlessly cleared the two-meter-high barrier with ease.
Qi Chong sat on the courtyard wall and said, "I hate you and don't want to be friends with you. And if you dare to climb over my wall, I will kill you."
After saying this, Qi Chong disappeared on the other side of the wall.
Wu Dayong certainly did not dare to climb over his wall; it would be a pointless death if he did. He shouted into the courtyard, "Qi Chong, if we meet again by chance, can we have a drink together?"
"Get lost!" Qi Chong's voice was distant and filled with anger.
Wu Dayong reluctantly mounted his horse and urged it forward. He still had to find Old Immortal, so he really had no time to linger.
The servant hurriedly mounted his horse to catch up. "My lord, why do you have to lower yourself to that mud-legged fellow?"
"My pleasure. Did you see how he climbed the wall? He's truly a good candidate for a scout. What a pity..."
"What a pity that our Da Sheng Kingdom is currently peaceful and prosperous, with no wars to fight. My lord can only make friends, but it's just scratching the surface."
After a busy day, Yu Chunmiao was exhausted. She finished cooking the last pot of herbal jelly and sat there, massaging her shoulders, not wanting to move at all.
Fortunately, she had already taken a bath. Qi Chong placed the herbal jelly in the backyard and carried her back into the house like a rag doll.
Yu Chunmiao was as limp as a straw man, letting him handle her as he pleased. Qi Chong helped her take off her outer garment and lay down beside her, fanning her for some cool air.
