Yu Chun Yuan confirmed that his sister was doing well, and he had also heard that she was no longer foolish. He focused intently on the items in the shed, oblivious to the cold, piercing gaze fixed upon him.
Yu Chunmiao pulled back the curtain of the cart and snapped, "What I do or don’t do is none of your business! I’m not at home, and no one is feeding you. You should be living a prosperous life."
After saying this, Yu Chunmiao turned to Qi Chong and said, "Let’s ignore him."
Yu Chun Yuan stubbornly held onto the donkey's head and shamelessly said, "Good sister, how can I compare to your good fortune? Your brother-in-law has a child now and can’t do any work. I’m the only one holding up the family, and life is tough. Look, I’m so poor that I’ve had to sell rice just to buy some meat for your sister-in-law."
Memories of the years of bullying and mistreatment from her brother and sister-in-law surged in Yu Chunmiao's mind, igniting her anger. Spitting in disdain, she jumped down from the cart, hands on her hips like a shrew, and shouted, "Who are you calling your sister? You don’t deserve it! Don’t think that just because you’re selling rice, or even if you were selling your wife or children, I would feel sorry for you."
Qi Chong initially thought about striking him down with a whip but decided to remain silent when he saw how animated Yu Chunmiao was in her tirade. His role was to step in at critical moments; when it came to cursing people out, Yu Chunmiao was far more skilled. So he quietly moved closer to the edge of the cart near her.
Seeing her jump down, Yu Chun Yuan released the donkey and took a couple of steps forward. "How can you say such venomous things? I am your own brother! And that is your own nephew!"
"Bah! Bah! Bah!" Yu Chunmiao crossed her arms and scoffed. "You dare say that? Aren't you afraid of biting your own tongue? Where were you when your wicked wife was beating me?"
Yu Chun Yuan fawned, "That’s all in the past. Good sister, please help me out just this once. Look at how you buy rice by the whole bag and meat in such large quantities; you even have eggs—there must be at least ten in that basket. If you could spare just a little bit, it would help me through this tough time."
Yu Chunmiao shot him a look. "Why should I give you my things? Because you don’t feed me? Because you hit me? Because your son can throw mud at me? I wouldn’t even give you my leftovers to feed a dog!"
Yu Chun Yuan dropped his pretense and said menacingly, "Today, you will give me what’s in that cart—whether you like it or not. If you don’t give it willingly, I’ll take it by force."
As he stepped forward again, Qi Chong coldly interjected, "Get lost!"
Only then did Yu Chun Yuan notice Qi Chong. The tall and sturdy figure made him feel uneasy as those cold phoenix eyes sent chills down his spine. But seeing the cart blocking Qi Chong's path gave him some confidence.
"You crippled fool, what can you do? You can’t touch me!" With that, he reached for Yu Chunmiao’s hand.
Just as he extended his hand, a large palm clamped down on his wrist. Pain radiated from his wrist as he felt all his strength drain away. After just two cries of protest, he unexpectedly found himself kneeling on the ground.
Yu Chunmiao bent down to look at him, his face twisted in pain, and mocked, "Tsk tsk tsk, if I don’t give you anything, you shouldn’t kneel either. If you do kneel, I still won’t give it to you. How about you just bow your head for me?"
Hearing this, Qi Chong jumped out of the car and grabbed him by the back of the neck, pressing him down to the ground.
Yu Chun Yuan, unable to resist due to the grip, was forced to bow his head like a marionette, hitting the ground more than twenty times.
When Qi Chong finally released him, his forehead was already bleeding. His hands trembled uncontrollably, and no matter how hard he tried to hold on, he couldn’t stop shaking.
Yu Chunmiao gave Qi Chong a thumbs up and said, "You really are something; your strength is as mighty as a mountain."
He was a man of few words but spoke volumes with his actions.
Qi Chong understood immediately and flashed her a charming smile.
Lu Zhishen could uproot trees; he could indeed move mountains.
Qi Chong held Yu Chunmiao around the waist and lifted her into the car. With one hand supporting himself, he jumped into the vehicle and drove off in the Donkey Cart.
Yu Chun Yuan took a long time to stand up and spat at the distant Donkey Cart.
When the clerk handed him the money for rice, he couldn’t even hold onto the coins properly, dropping several into a stinky ditch. It took him quite a while to fish them out.
In a secluded area on the road, Yu Chunmiao leaped onto Qi Chong’s back and said, "Having you around is great; it gives me confidence in arguments."
Qi Chong patted her hand and said, "I won’t let anyone bully you. If you want to curse someone out, go ahead—curse until you feel better. If it comes to fighting, leave that to me."
He appreciated this kind of personality; unlike his mother, who would cry even with his father backing her up whenever she felt wronged.
