The porcelain-white legs swayed in front of him, and Qi Chong felt his throat dry and a restlessness stir within him. He had not finished his calculations, so he averted his gaze and focused on the abacus.
Yu Chunmiao sat across from him, loosening her hair and carefully combing it. Her hair was dark and shiny, thick in volume, but washing it was always a major task.
Once Qi Chong finished his accounts, he closed the ledger and leaned his head on his hand, gazing dreamily at her as she quietly groomed herself. Unbeknownst to him, the blender had been turned on at some point.
"Yu Chunmiao, go to sleep," he said, his voice hoarse.
As she looked up, her eyes met his profound gaze. She understood! She walked over to him and settled onto his lap. Her delicate, fair hands wrapped around his neck, her soft body leaning into his embrace.
Qi Chong's cool lips brushed against hers, their kisses deepening as they became entwined. Just as Yu Chunmiao felt she might suffocate, she pulled away slightly, tilting her head back to guide him in the next direction.
A heated breath cascaded downwards as the ties of her waist garment loosened, revealing a large expanse of pristine skin tinged with pink. The two peaks were repeatedly savored by the man.
With one hand gripping her waist, he adjusted her position. The lamp on the desk flickered as the air stirred restlessly around them. In the final moments, he lifted her up, yet even in his passion, he did not forget Sun Daifu's words.
A satisfied murmur escaped Qi Chong's lips near her ear: "I’ll go fetch some water; wait for me."
The water in the kitchen was still warm, left intentionally by Qi Chong. After washing up and changing into clean trousers, he held her close and softly asked, "That hole in your pants was left for moments like earlier, right?"
Yu Chunmiao's face flushed instantly as she hurried to explain, "That's not true! It was really just for your convenience when you needed to use the restroom. What happened earlier was an accident."
"Alright, alright, I won't ask anymore." Qi Chong sensed her embarrassment and thought to himself that no matter the reason, he liked it very much.
"Hehe, as long as you like it," she replied.
He couldn't bear to hear it anymore. "Please, just stop talking," he said.
After that, it was best to savor the moment and not dwell on it. It was too awkward.
For several days, the household was bustling with activity, operating normally without any incidents. However, the delivery worker mentioned that someone had been stationed at the village entrance, and upon hearing the description, it turned out to be Yang Zhengshan. He seemed to be guarding against anyone coming to the Qi Family, standing there for no reason, looking quite miserable.
The worker also relayed that the exams at the County Academy would take place in early July. Qi Rong felt a bit anxious; despite intensifying his studies during this time, he truly struggled with poetry. Sitting under the eaves with a book in hand, he wore a frown.
Upon learning this, Yu Chunmiao wrote several poems for him. Soon, the sounds of loud recitations echoed through the Qi Family courtyard:
"Goose Goose Goose
Chopping Rice Under the Noon Sun
Spring Sleep Unaware of Dawn
Li Li Qi Shang Cao"
She altered the original characters to make them easier for Qi Rong, who had never seen the originals, so he wouldn't slip up later. Yu Chunmiao said to Qi Rong, "Look, you're a farmer's child; these poems sound like something you could write.
The first one is about geese; it's quite easy to understand. The second one is called Min Nong, which talks about the hardships of farmers and encourages people to cherish food. The third one is called Chun Xiao; you can say it came to mind when you saw the vegetable flowers blown down by wind and rain in the morning."
