The room connected to the kitchen was quite noisy. Yu Chunmiao, being agreeable, followed Qi Chong into his room. Taking advantage of Chen Ruolan's afternoon nap, Qi Chong gently cradled her in his arms, with no ulterior motives whatsoever. 0

By the time Yu Chunmiao got up, Qi Yuan had already erected four new pillars for the kitchen, securing them at the top, and was busy sawing the crossbeam. Yu Chunmiao approached him and asked, "What should we use to cover the roof of the kitchen? I can buy it first thing tomorrow." 0

Without stopping his work, Qi Yuan replied, "No need to buy anything. I plan to use bamboo first. I'll split it in half and fit the two sides together. That way, when it rains, the water will flow down the grooves of the bamboo." 0

He continued, "Then we can cut some Mountain Palm Fiber from the mountain to lay on top. It'll keep it dry and cool." 0

Yu Chunmiao admired her brother-in-law for being both capable and hardworking. "What would this family do without you?" she said. 0

Finally pausing his sawing, Qi Yuan looked up with a silly grin and said, "Sister-in-law got it wrong; it's this family that wouldn't know what to do without you." 0

"Oh dear!" Yu Chunmiao covered her mouth in embarrassment. "I can't believe I said that." 0

At that moment, Qi Rong returned with a basket of fairy grass. Spotting Yu Chunmiao, he said, "Sister-in-law, I went to Village East today to gather fairy grass and saw Qian Dazheng bullying Qi Ping and his mother." 0

He paused before adding, "Actually, Qi Ping is now using his mother's surname; it's Zhang Ping. The bedding from the old temple was thrown out too, and even the village chief went over. He couldn't stop Qian Dazheng; he said he would come back in a few days." 0

Since Zhang Guiying had established herself as a female head of household, Yu Chunmiao hadn't delivered steamed buns to her in a long time. She didn't even know how things were going for the mother and son now. Hearing Qi Rong's words left her feeling somewhat uneasy. 0

She told Qi Rong what she knew before heading towards the backyard. 0

In the backyard, Qi Chong was grinding Mi Jiang because they needed to prepare everything for their trip to town tomorrow. 0

Yu Chunmiao squatted beside him and asked, "Qian Dazheng keeps bullying Zhang Guiying. You see, this situation is partly my fault; I feel guilty about it. Is there any way we can help them settle this?" 0

She only wanted Qian Dazheng to stop harassing Zhang Guiying and her son; she didn't want to get involved further. 0

After thinking for a moment, Qi Chong replied, "I remember Qian Dazheng's son has been sick for a long time. If Zhang Guiying could help treat him, maybe that would calm Qian Dazheng down." 0

"What?" Yu Chunmiao was puzzled. "Zhang Guiying can't treat illnesses; that's just wishful thinking." 0

Qi Chong snorted dismissively and said, "If I say she can, then she can." 0

It seemed like Qi Chong had a plan! Yu Chunmiao felt relieved that she had turned to him for help. 0

"Don't worry about it," she said. "I'll go to the old temple soon and help her settle this matter." 0

Yu Chunmiao nuzzled against his arm, playfully saying, "I want to go too." In truth, Qi Chong would have agreed even without her coaxing, but she simply enjoyed the feeling of being affectionate with him. Neither of the Yu Chunmiao had much experience with such playful behavior. 0

They arrived at the dilapidated temple, where Zhang Guiying was using a wooden stick to beat the dust out of a blanket, while Zhang Ping was moving scattered stones to set up a makeshift stove. A pot lay far off, its edge broken into a large chunk. 0

Upon seeing them approach, Zhang Guiying showed little emotional reaction and coldly remarked, "Are you here to watch me make a fool of myself?" 0

Zhang Ping rushed to his mother’s side, arms wide open, declaring, "Don’t bully my mom." 0

Yu Chunmiao noticed Zhang Guiying's disheveled hair and some scratches on her neck, indicating that she had just been through a struggle. 0
