"Who are you?" Yu Chunmiao asked warily, her mind racing with thoughts of the voice's owner.
He Guang emerged from the bushes, moving closer to Yu Chunmiao. She could only see a tall, thin figure approaching, and instinctively stepped back.
"Little fool, don't you remember me? I'm your Brother Guang." He Guang's tone was lewd, as if he already considered her his possession.
Yu Chunmiao recalled that this was the man who had flirted with her at the village entrance in front of Qi Chong, though she couldn't remember his name.
In the dead of night, with no village in sight and no inn nearby, her first thought was to run.
That’s exactly what she intended to do.
But He Guang had no intention of letting her escape. He had seen her on her first night out; he only hesitated because Qi Chong was following behind at a distance.
Qi Chong had abandoned her after two days, deeming her a fool. It was as if he enjoyed making a fool of himself by chasing after her, only to let He Guang have his way.
However, the little fool was beautiful and worth the trouble.
Yu Chunmiao hadn’t run far before He Guang caught up with her. He blocked her path, closing in. "Where do you think you're going, little fool? I have what Qi Chong has, and I can make you feel even better."
Yu Chunmiao was furious; how could such a rogue exist? She shouted angrily, "You ugly toad dreaming of swan meat! Look in the mirror—do you think you deserve it?"
He Guang's features were sharp and gaunt, his body thin like a worm, yet he dared to compare himself to Qi Chong.
He Guang thought that this little fool might not be as foolish as she seemed, but it didn’t matter; she wouldn’t escape him tonight.
"Little fool, I've been thinking about you so much that I can't sleep. Come here and let me hold you," he said as he lunged toward Yu Chunmiao.
She dodged him and seized the opportunity to run. He Guang missed his grab and quickly turned to chase after her.
In just a few strides, he caught up with Yu Chunmiao and grabbed her from behind.
Protecting her chest with her arms, she struggled and shouted, "If you kill me today, I'll tell Qi Chong about you! You won't get away with this!"
He Guang wasn’t afraid at all; a woman bought for pleasure wouldn’t be worth Qi Chong’s trouble. It would be lucky if she didn’t end up in a brothel.
Her body felt so soft, and she missed her brother terribly. "Don't run away, let me kiss you!"
Yu Chunmiao dodged his foul mouth and stomped on his foot with all her strength.
He Guang winced in pain and let go, giving Yu Chunmiao the chance to escape as she ran, shouting for help. No matter if they were thieves or bandits, anyone who did bad things feared being discovered.
He Guang was furious, cursing, "You little vixen, I’ll make you stop running!"
Yu Chunmiao's only complaint about her body was her lack of stamina; she couldn't run fast enough. Unfortunately, in her panic, she tripped over something—whether it was a rock or a branch, she didn't know—and fell hard to the ground.
Seizing the opportunity, He Guang jumped on her back, ready to tear her clothes off.
Yu Chunmiao cried out for help, feeling as if she were about to fall into an abyss. In that moment, she felt an overwhelming fear and couldn't help but shout Qi Chong's name.
He Guang paused for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Calling him won't help you! After tonight, he won't want you anymore; you'll be mine! Hahaha!"
Suddenly, Yu Chunmiao felt a lightness on her body as He Guang fell to the side, clutching his head and retreating a few steps as if he had seen a ghost.
When she got up from the ground and looked around, she saw Qi Chong approaching the fallen He Guang.
Realizing Qi Chong was there made He Guang fearful; sitting on the ground, he retreated while begging for mercy. "I was just playing around! I didn't mean anything by it! I won't do it again!"
Qi Chong paid no attention to his pleas. He had been walking for a long time without seeing anyone return and quickened his pace. In the distance, he heard Yu Chunmiao calling for help and shouting his name.
In his urgency, he forgot to respond and rushed over to find Yu Chunmiao being pinned down by He Guang. He swung his cane and aimed for He Guang's head.
