Qi Chong extended his long arm and ruffled Yu Chunmiao's hair, saying, "If it weren't for Banxia making money, I would have said this a long time ago. After the rain, these things can grow until September. But you can't go; Red Mushrooms grow under the pine needles and rotten leaves, and there are many snakes." 0

Yu Chunmiao replied disappointedly, "But if I stay home every day, what’s the point? Besides, I really enjoy mushroom picking." 0

Qi Rong interjected, "Sister-in-law, if you like it, you can go to the nearby bamboo grove to pick bamboo mushrooms; the path there is easier to walk." 0

Qi Chong gave his younger brother a hard slap on the head and scolded, "What nonsense are you talking? Can’t your sister-in-law rest at home for a few days? If you dare leave her alone in the bamboo grove, just wait until I beat you up." 0

Qi Hu Lie Lie Rang quickly backtracked, saying, "Right, right! Sister-in-law shouldn’t be alone; just consider me rambling." After saying this, he ran off, deciding it was safer to wash Banxia in the backyard. 0

The rain fell for three whole days, and Yu Chunmiao spent her time eating, sleeping, and keeping Qi Chong company. 0

One day, when she opened Qi Chong's door, she saw him walking around the room with a crutch. 0

Yu Chunmiao hurriedly moved all the stools and chairs under the table. "You must be careful not to bump into anything," she said while rolling up her sleeves to wipe his sweat. 0

Looking into her concerned eyes, Qi Chong felt a warmth he couldn’t quite understand. He had completely fallen into this gentle affection. He carefully pulled her into his embrace and asked, "Yu Chunmiao, why are you so good to me?" 0

Qi Chong felt incredibly lucky to have met such a wonderful woman. Since he had known her, he had been a cripple; aside from cooking two meals for her, he hadn’t done anything else. Yet from the moment she entered the Qi Family, she devoted herself entirely to him. 0

The woman who had once insisted she would marry no one but him chose to postpone their wedding after learning that the Qi Family had exhausted their resources to treat her father’s illness. Just days after becoming a cripple himself, she married someone else. 0

Though he didn’t feel sad about it, it only made him more aware of the coldness of human nature. 0

Yu Chunmiao wrapped her arms around his solid waist and said, "Look at what you're saying! Wasn’t I bought back by your mother to be your wife? Isn’t it only natural for a wife to care for her husband?" 0

She couldn’t possibly think that she had initially been attracted by his looks and was now slowly becoming addicted to his embrace while looking forward to future kisses and cuddles. 0

Although Qi Chong was currently limping, she could tell he was someone with potential. Once he got through this difficult phase, they would have a happy life together. 0

He held her tightly as if afraid she would disappear at any moment. His voice trembled as he asked, "Yu Chunmiao, will you stay with my family?" 0

He was worried she might leave him. Yu Chunmiao patted his back and said, "You all are good people; meeting you is my fortune. On my first day here, your mother didn’t mind that I was a fool; she treated me so well. Unless you drive me away or treat me badly, I won’t leave." 0

As soon as Yu Chunmiao finished speaking, she felt Qi Chong smile. They held each other like that for an unknown amount of time. 0

"Practicing Golden Rooster on one leg isn’t easy; aren’t you tired standing for so long?" Yu Chunmiao's voice was muffled against his chest. Qi Chong chuckled at her teasing; his right leg and armpit were starting to feel numb from holding up the crutch for too long. His left leg also ached from being suspended for too long. 0

Once they returned to sit on the bed, they could hear Qi Yuan working as a carpenter in the hall. 0

"Didn’t your younger brother get busy quickly?" Yu Chunmiao asked. 0

Qi Chong cleared his throat and said somewhat shyly, "No, he’s making me a bed." 0

Yu Chunmiao blushed instantly. Qi Yuan was indeed bold; she thought this matter would be postponed until Qi Chong's leg healed. 0

"You, you, you... your leg isn't even better yet. Why the rush?" 0

Qi Chong gently shook the bed, the creaking sound was quite grating. 0

"I'm anxious; this bed really won't do." 0

The television dramas had deceived her; ancient people were truly unreserved. After all, she was a modern independent woman from the twenty-first century, and faced with such a situation, she found herself unable to cope. 0
