As Qi Chang was about to step inside, Yu Chunmiao pointed at him and burst into laughter like a madwoman. The more she laughed, the louder it became, and soon she was holding her belly, tears streaming down her face from the hilarity.
Everyone was momentarily stunned.
Yu Chunmiao pointed at Qi Chong and said foolishly, "You look like Qi Rong, and you look like him. He is Qi Chang!"
She walked up to Qi Chang and asked in a silly manner, "Who do you look like? You don’t look like him, and you don’t look like her." After pointing at the couple, she scratched her head as if deep in thought for a moment. Then she took Qi Chong's hand and playfully said, "Husband, those who look like you can come in; those who don’t aren’t part of the Qi Family and can’t enter."
Qi Chong was confused by her antics. He looked down at Yu Chunmiao, who was shaking his arm with a silly expression on her face, seeking an explanation with a puzzled look.
Chen Ruolan, having acted with her before, quickly caught on. She pulled Yu Chunmiao aside and deliberately said loudly, "Silly daughter-in-law, what nonsense are you talking about?"
Yu Chunmiao whispered in response, "Qi isn’t the child of the elder uncle."
She broke free from her mother-in-law's grasp and ran over to Qi Rong. "Qi Rong! Qi Rong! Does Dad look like the elder uncle?"
Since she started laughing, Qi Rong hadn’t closed his mouth and had no idea how to respond. Was his sister-in-law really that daft?
Not intending to let Qi Rong answer anyway, Chen Ruolan sadly told Yu Chunmiao, "Oh dear, don’t ask anymore; Qi Rong must be feeling heartbroken. He always says that seeing his elder uncle is like seeing his father. They look exactly alike."
Yu Chunmiao stared blankly at Qi Rong and shook her head foolishly. "Then who is he? He’s not the elder uncle’s son; he doesn’t look like him."
After saying this, she turned around to stand in front of Qi Chong and made silly faces at him.
Only then did Qi Chong react and play along. "Hey now, don’t say such things; how could he not be the elder uncle’s son? Look at those eyes, those brows, that nose—oh my goodness! Don’t say such things; this isn’t a joke!"
Yu Chunmiao secretly gave him a thumbs-up and made a cute face.
Qi Chong felt enchanted by her cuteness; his head buzzed with delight.
Zhang Guihua finally caught on to what was being said and exclaimed, "What nonsense are you all talking about? He’s just a child; don’t spout such ridiculousness!"
While her words were certain, they sounded somewhat suspiciously defensive.
In Qi Chang's mind, the image of gold bars had vanished. He looked at his son and then at the two brothers, pondering over his own father and eldest son. His confusion deepened.
Seeing his expression, Yu Chunmiao knew her performance had succeeded halfway.
Continuing her act, she pointed at Qi Chang and said deliberately, "You’re someone’s child; go play at your own home. Go! Go! Go find your dad!"
Zhang Guihua was furious. She rushed in with her hand raised to strike Yu Chunmiao. In a swift motion, Qi Chong leaped forward to stand beside Yu Chunmiao, grabbing Zhang Guihua's hand mid-swing and flinging her away from them.
"My wife is just being silly; she says whatever comes to mind. Surely Uncle will believe Aunt?"
Yu Chunmiao was quite satisfied with Qi Chong's heartless words.
Qi Rong, truly foolish, had been tricked by Yu Chunmiao. He blurted out, "Why does Qi look like Wang Xicai from Village East?"
This remark stirred up a storm in Qi Chang's heart. Wasn't this child just a slightly chubbier version of Wang Xicai? Especially those outwardly turned lips that looked more and more similar the longer he stared.
