The two of them went to their usual hotel again. This time, Wang Lei didn’t head straight to the bed like he usually did.
"That man is your blind date?" Zhao Fei asked, her tone filled with indignation as if it were a matter of course.
"Wang Lei, then who am I?" he felt a pang of anxiety.
"You are my Brother Lei," Zhao Fei replied, removing her false eyelashes, revealing her stunning natural beauty as the makeup came off.
"So I’m not your boyfriend?" he asked, his heart racing.
"Do you think so? You’ve never said you loved me. Aren’t we just Friends with Benefits?" Zhao Fei didn’t like Wang Lei’s tone and couldn’t help but retort.
Wang Lei was enveloped in a dark mood, silent and brooding. It was infuriating; he had been missing her day and night, yet here they were, labeled as Friends with Benefits.
What did it mean when he visited her every time? Wasn’t it a long-distance effort?
"I’m beautiful and charming, yet you take advantage of me," Zhao Fei added boldly.
Wang Lei stood up, wanting to say something but ultimately said nothing. He opened the door and left.
Hearing the door slam shut, Zhao Fei felt a twinge of regret. She had been too blunt; she missed him too.
After their unhappy parting, Zhao Fei didn’t receive any messages from Wang Lei. It seemed he had given up.
The summer heat was unbearable, so she bought a plane ticket and went abroad for a vacation, returning two months later.
As she passed by the hotel, memories of their wild days together flooded back. She missed him; that dog was truly ruthless.
The day after returning home, she bought a ticket and took her key to Yurou County.
To her surprise, the key still worked. She opened the door and glanced around the two rooms. Thankfully, there were no other women taking advantage of the situation.
She waited from day until night, then waited again until evening. To her dismay, that dog had even blocked her number.
She began to doubt whether he still lived there and rummaged through the master bedroom. Finding his clothes reassured her.
Lying on his bed, surrounded by his familiar scent, she thought about how could a single man be so tidy? If it weren’t for his housekeeper, she would have assumed he was a messy guy.
On the third day, Zhao Fei could no longer wait and decided to go to Gengxu Town to find Lin Xiao.
Zhao Fei could tell that Lin Xiao was even less welcoming towards her now.
"What about Wang Lei? I went to the An Bureau to look for him, but no one would tell me," she said.
"You two were close, right? Why are you looking for him?" Lin Xiao asked without lifting her head from the documents she was reviewing.
"Why should I tell you about my relationship with him? She doesn't like you anymore," Zhao Fei retorted, refusing to back down.
"You and he have nothing to do with each other, so how could I tell you?"
In a fit of anger, Zhao Fei snatched Lin Xiao's phone and dialed Wang Lei's number.
"Lin Xiao, what is it?" came a familiar voice from the other end.
"Brother Lei, it's me."
"Why are you with Lin Xiao?" Wang Lei's tone turned cold.
"I've kidnapped her. If you want to save her, come by yourself. She's at your place," Zhao Fei said before hanging up.
Initially, Lin Xiao had learned that Wang Lei had gone to find Zhao Fei many times and realized that the two were together. However, she never expected that within such a short time, things would escalate.
"Zhao Fei, have you thought about what you'll do after meeting him? How far do you want to go with him? If you two get married, his monthly salary won't even be enough for one of your outfits. The honor he values is something you'll never reach. He wants a home—think about it, can you give him that? Or does he not want anything but your sincere heart? Are you willing?"
"Zhao Fei, think it over before you see him again. Don't give him hope only to crush it later."
Lin Xiao watched Zhao Fei leave and sighed deeply.
