Lin Xiao looked at Li Hao, who surprisingly didn't show any signs of jealousy this time, and chuckled to herself, reminding herself that she was a married woman. Li Hao couldn't help but ruffle her hair.
"Don't mess with my hair next time," Lin Xiao said, noticing how much Li Hao enjoyed playing with her locks.
"Are you afraid you won't grow taller?" Li Hao teased, giving her hair a few more playful tugs. Lin Xiao's hair was soft and smooth, with a lovely texture.
Lin Xiao stretched out her arm and playfully ruffled his hair in return; it was stiff and prickly, just like his beard. Feeling a bit frustrated, she thought to herself that this was truly a case of losing more than she gained.
Early in the morning, the two of them were so bored that they burst into laughter.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year, all the major shopping malls had opened.
Li Nai Nai said, "You young people should go out instead of staying here. Hao Hao, take Xiao Xiao around Beijing."
Lin Xiao considered that it was rare for her to be back home with the elders after such a long time and was about to refuse.
"Tian Tian can stay with us; you two go ahead," Professor Sun said while playfully holding Tian Tian on his lap.
Li Hao took Lin Xiao's hand and said, "Let’s not keep Grandpa and Grandma from playing with the kids. If you don’t go, she'll just ignore everyone else."
Li Hao intended for Tian Tian to bond with the elders; he planned to leave her behind after the holiday and return alone with Lin Xiao to Yu Rao.
Just then, Lin Xiao's phone rang.
"Lin Xiao, are you back? Do you have any plans today? I want to take you out," Nan Jia's voice came through as lively as ever.
"Just the two of us?" Lin Xiao wondered if she should invite Li Hao along.
"Bring Li Hao too! I'll call my brother and see if Chen Chen is free," Nan Jia replied, her voice slightly loud as if she were outside.
"Where are we going?" Lin Xiao wasn't very good at planning outings.
"To Beihai Park! Li Hao knows where to find us," Nan Jia said.
By the time Lin Xiao and Li Hao arrived at the ice rink in Beihai Park, Nan Jia and her group were already having fun on the ice.
Watching Nan Jia glide gracefully across the ice made Lin Xiao feel a bit envious. When she saw someone fall hard nearby, anxiety crept in. The rink was filled mostly with young girls and boys, making her feel a little shy but also excited to see how serious Li Hao would be while skating.
"Don't be afraid; I'll hold onto you," Li Hao reassured her as he helped tighten her skates.
Lin Xiao was a girl from the south, and ice skating was her first experience in life. As she had expected, she almost fell on the rink.
Li Hao held onto her tightly, not daring to let go, while Lin Xiao repeatedly stumbled into him.
"Li Hao, let me teach her," Nan Jia said as she instantly appeared beside Lin Xiao.
"Don't be afraid, take a deep breath, adjust your posture, like this..."
It was unclear whether Lin Xiao had gained some experience from falling or if Nan Jia's teaching skills were exceptional, but in no time, Lin Xiao managed to skate on her own. Gradually, she improved more and more.
Nan Jia held Lin Xiao's hand as they joyfully glided across the rink. When they reached Si Ningyuan, she shouted, "Brother, doesn’t it feel like we’re back in our childhood?"
The domineering Si Ningyuan replied confidently, "I love having the whole place to ourselves."
At noon, Si Ningyuan called for lunch, and Lin Xiao reluctantly left the rink. As the local guide, Si Ningyuan provided a seamless experience of eating, drinking, and having fun.
In the afternoon, as everyone prepared to part ways, Si Ningyuan noticed Li Hao going to get the car and said to Lin Xiao, "I heard about Yu Rao's situation. After the New Year, you should return to your province for work and forget about my investment matters."
Before Lin Xiao could respond, Si Ningyuan waved his hand dismissively and continued speaking.
"When Li Hao came to find me back when he was a county magistrate, he was honest with me about how that investment might not necessarily be profitable. If you leave, someone else will take over."
Lin Xiao felt a bit awkward at this revelation; what kind of extraordinary friend was Si Ningyuan? He really was loyal to have invested ten billion.
Yu Rao was part of Li Hao and Yan Ge's plan to create an ideal world for the Geng Family Brothers. Although I am just a businessman, I can still do my part.
"Who are the Geng Family Brothers?" Lin Xiao asked in confusion, wondering what their connection was with Fang Shuoyan.
"You don’t know?!" Si Ningyuan was also surprised. "This story is long; you should ask Li Hao when you get back."
Seeing Li Hao approaching from a distance, Si Ningyuan quickly changed the subject.
