They had their meal in a private room on the second floor and then went to the music hall on the first floor to listen to folk songs. Lin Xiao recalled the scene of Li Hao singing during Yu Rao. When Wang Lei accompanied Lin Xiao downstairs, he sincerely asked, "Lin Xiao, would you be my girlfriend?"
Lin Xiao was so startled that she fled in panic, and this blind date ended without any resolution. When Li Youyou found out, she looked heartbroken and criticized Lin Xiao, saying, "Sister Lin Xiao, you really missed out on a golden bachelor. If I didn't already have a boyfriend, I would have gone for it."

Li Youyou entered the Organization Department and went straight to the archives. Her family hoped she would have a stable job and didn't expect her to become wealthy; she herself had no great ambitions.
At the end of the month, the cadre office organized the first round of training for County Party Secretaries, led by Xiao Tian's cadre office with cooperation from the Propaganda Department. The minister kicked off the training with the first lecture, and Lin Xiao followed the Deputy Director to take meeting notes.
Seated in the back row of the venue, Lin Xiao could see everything happening in front clearly. It was during this session that she saw Li Hao for the first time again; he looked just as he always did, wearing a gray wool coat and carrying a briefcase. He found his seat card and sat down, greeting familiar faces from time to time.
Such training sessions were the most comfortable for Lin Xiao and her colleagues. Aside from preparing for the minister's presentation materials and speech a week in advance without rest, they didn't need to pay too much attention to what external experts discussed during their lectures. The teachers provided outlines and introductions that they could use directly; they only needed to jot down a couple of sentences for information reports.
After the first day's classes ended, Lin Xiao took her notebook to the office, turned off her computer, removed her wool suit jacket, and put on her down jacket to prepare for leaving work.
Li Hao knocked on the door and walked in directly with a smile, greeting her with "Long time no see." Lin Xiao didn't expect him to come alone like this; she felt a bit flustered and worried about being seen. "Hello, Secretary Li."
"Let's have dinner together," Li Hao suggested gently, knowing Lin Xiao might refuse but assuring her it wouldn't take long.
Li Hao's car was still parked where he used to pick her up, not far from the Organization Department. They walked separately as Lin Xiao requested. This time, Li Hao took her to a restaurant near her home. While waiting for their food, neither of them spoke; Li Hao ordered all of Lin Xiao's favorite dishes.
Watching Lin Xiao's complexion improve significantly since their last separation made Li Hao feel conflicted—unsure whether he should be happy for her or sad for himself.
"How did your blind date go?"
Li Hao felt a pang of unfulfilled longing; he was waiting for her, yet she was out dating someone else.
Lin Xiao clearly hadn't expected him to know about it, and a sense of guilt washed over her. But then she remembered they had broken up—what did it matter to him? It was fine.
Li Hao tried to maintain his composure, but he felt like a small deceiver.
"Our Peninsula Hotel is already under construction. It should be completed soon, and I’ll invite you to come experience it," he said as he poured her a glass of water.
Lin Xiao thought to herself that this was the result of their joint efforts. She felt conflicted but managed to say, "Of course, I’ll definitely come."
Li Hao watched her feign indifference and felt a surge of frustration. "You never intended to come, did you? Are you still wondering when the food will arrive?"
Lin Xiao thought, yes, you guessed right, but she maintained a polite smile and replied, "You’re joking."
Li Hao was waiting for the moment when her facade would crack.
Lin Xiao looked at Li Hao, who seemed so cheerful, and felt a deep sadness; she realized that after all this time, she was the only one who hadn’t moved on.
What troubled her even more was the realization that she had agreed to meet him despite knowing he already had a girlfriend. Regret washed over her.
