Identification: Undead
Threat Level: Somewhat Threatening
Combat Power:
Note: Although your Combat Power is significantly higher than theirs, do not be blindly arrogant.
Does Combat Power even exist?
Ye Wumeng furrowed his brows tighter. This was more than he had imagined! He knew that although his Combat Power exceeded that of the monster before him, during the battle at Anlius Apothecary, he had nearly depleted all his Wu Lan. The hundred thousand points of Wu Lan from Deng Sanqi had yet to arrive, leaving him with little combat capability at present.
Damn it!
He tightened his grip on the Mark III, a hint of regret flashing in his eyes.
I can't hold on much longer.
At that moment, a gentle hand rested on his shoulder. He turned slightly, only to see Taozi behind him, her eyes filled with determination and trust.
"Wumeng, Lei Huo and I need to fight and can't break free. You know how Wen Xi is, so we hope you can command us."
I want to slip away from this.
Ye Wumeng was taken aback for a moment as he looked at Taozi and the others. He spoke in a serious tone, "In that case, listen to me."
Seeing Ye Wumeng's serious expression, the other three wore equally grave faces, waiting for his next instructions.
"We should make a quick escape!"
Huh?
Taozi and the others were left bewildered in the wind. They thought Ye Wumeng would discuss how to intercept the Undead, but instead, he suggested they flee?
"Wumeng, that's not right," Taozi stammered.
"Remember, nothing is more important than life. Inform Xu Duan and let them know to evacuate early. We have done our best; there’s no need to risk our lives."
The three fell silent as Ye Wumeng turned and walked away.
In this apocalyptic world, thinking about responsibilities and obligations while risking one's life is nothing short of foolishness!
Seeing Ye Wumeng leave, Taotao hesitated for a moment before following in his footsteps. Lei Huo and Wen Xi glanced back at the enormous monster behind them and quickly retreated.
The monster moved slowly, allowing Ye Wumeng and the others to reach the exit. However, their expressions darkened when they arrived. The exit from the sewage pipe had been closed off, with a dense crowd of people pressing in front of it—members of the ten small teams.
What had happened here?
Ye Wumeng dashed up to Captain, furrowing his brow as he asked. It was Captain Fei Wen, who had shut the exit door just as he escaped the tunnel.
A hint of warmth crept onto Captain's usually serious face as he clenched his fists tightly, gritting his teeth and forcing out each word. "Fei Wen!"
Hearing that name ignited a surge of anger within Ye Wumeng, an unnamed fire burning in his heart. Once they got out, he would not let Fei Wen off easily!
Boom! Boom!
A tremendous tremor shook the ground again; Ye Wumeng knew it was the monster closing in once more. To be honest, if there were any other options, Ye Wumeng would absolutely avoid taking risks—after all, staying alive was not something to be ashamed of.
But now, that old thief Fei Wen had closed off their only escape route, forcing them to confront this terrifying monster!
As the creature drew nearer, fear surged to a peak among the crowd. Everyone pressed against each other at the back, too afraid to move forward, their faces etched with despair.
Bang!
The sound of a gunshot rang out beside them. They turned to see Ye Wumeng holding a Mark III and pulling the trigger at the monster.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A series of shots from the Mark III fired at the creature, leaving tiny wounds on its massive body.
"What are you waiting for? If you don’t want to die, grab your Wu Lan and start shooting!"
Ye Wumeng's furious shout snapped everyone back to reality. Seeing this, Captain gritted his teeth and drew a small black pistol from his waist, continuously firing at the monster.
More and more people pulled out their Wu Lan and unleashed a torrent of firepower at the creature. Bullets rained down like a storm, momentarily pinning the monster in place.
Good! As long as they could hold on for two minutes, it wouldn't be a problem!
But just then, the monster's body began to writhe uncontrollably. Its thick, slimy tentacles thrashed wildly like long whips, swiftly lunging toward the crowd with ferocious intent!
Whoosh!
The Tentacle moved swiftly, darting into the crowd with a sudden lunge!
Ah!
The piercing screams echoed continuously, as the Tentacles snaked through the air, ensnaring the members of the Bonfire Group like skewered candied hawthorns, swinging them around mercilessly.
This strike shattered the last shred of hope among the crowd. In a frenzy, they tossed aside their Wu Lan and pounded on the door, their voices filled with anguished cries.
"Don't panic! Just hold on a little longer, and we can get out!" Ye Wumeng shouted to the others.
But it was no use; in the face of such overwhelming terror, they could hardly hear Ye Wumeng's voice. All they wanted was to escape this nightmare.
Survive!
Damn it!
With no resistance from the crowd, the monstrous creature lumbered toward them, its massive body shifting ominously. The Tentacles waved wildly, and those strung up on them writhed helplessly, emitting chilling howls.
"What do we do, Wumeng?" Taozi looked at Ye Wumeng, gripping her heavy sword tightly, her face etched with anxiety and fear.
Lei Huo and Wen Xi turned to her as well, clutching their own Wu Lan, ready to fight for their lives.
Ye Wumeng holstered her empty Mark III and retrieved a Cutlass from the storage room, fixing her gaze on the grotesque monster.
"Lei Huo, provide fire support from a distance."
"Understood."
"Taozi, can you hold off those Tentacles?"
"I can manage."
"Good. Wen Xi, stay close to Taozi and be ready to heal her."
"Got it."
As for me...
Ye Wumeng flicked her Cutlass in her hand and stared at the repulsive creature, a glint of cold murderous intent flashing in her eyes.
"I'm going to take it down."
The others were momentarily taken aback by her response but said nothing more.
Only she could withstand its attacks without being infected, and her goal was simply to hold off Xu Duan. Although it was dangerous, the odds were in her favor!
Now, the operation begins!
At the sound of this command, Taozi and the others instantly entered a state of readiness, each taking their positions with vigilance.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Several Tentacles swiftly lunged forward. Taozi's figure flickered as she wielded her heavy sword with surprising agility. With incredible speed, she could sever a Tentacle with a single strike.
Her silhouette darted around, continuously slicing through the Tentacles that charged at the group.
Phew.
She swung the heavy sword repeatedly, beads of sweat forming on her forehead as her body trembled from exertion.
Was she pushing herself too hard?
Was this the strength of the Elite Squad?
It was astonishingly powerful.
This is great; we have hope!
The once panicked crowd looked on in shock at this scene, unable to believe how strong Taozi truly was! A glimmer of hope began to rise within them.
We can survive!
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Taozi's stamina was rapidly depleting, and her focus began to wane. The Tentacles appeared to blur before her eyes, as if they were multiple images overlapping.
But just then, a Tentacle surged toward her with alarming speed. Taozi couldn't react in time and could only twist her body desperately.
Bang!
She was propelled high into the air, crashing hard against the wall of the sewage pipe. Her body embedded slightly into it, leaving her hanging there. Wen Xi rushed to her side, quickly opening the potion that Ye Wumeng had given them earlier and feeding it to Taozi.
The group, who had just felt a spark of hope, fell back into despair as they watched the approaching monster. Their bodies trembled with fear.
But at that moment, the creature before them suddenly froze. Its Tentacles swayed like seaweed, coming to a halt and no longer advancing.
What just happened?
