"Oh, how polite! But what if I refuse?"
Just as John finished speaking, the three guards behind him underwent a remarkable transformation, as if they had shed their former selves. In the blink of an eye, three massive and fearsome werewolves appeared before everyone.
These three guards had morphed into Transcendent Bloodline Demon Wolf Knights, exuding an aura that instilled terror in the hearts of onlookers. They stood proudly behind John, forming an unbreakable line of defense.
At that moment, a suffocating pressure descended upon the small group of thirteen Rogue Vagabond Knights above them, akin to a mountain pressing down on an egg. Instantly, the thirteen warhorses, which had been relatively calm, were startled into panic; their legs buckled beneath them, and they collapsed to the ground.
The riders atop the horses were caught off guard as they fell alongside their mounts. The leader of the Rogue Vagabond Knights stumbled and knelt before John, unable to regain his balance in time.
Seeing this scene unfold, John could no longer contain his amusement and burst into laughter. "Hahaha! What are you doing? Have you failed at robbery and now resorted to begging? Hahaha!"
In response to John's merciless mockery, the thirteen Wandering Knights dared not show any signs of discontent. For those who lived by thievery, their dignity had long been discarded like old rags.
What did a little mockery matter? Moreover, John and his three Magic Wolf Transcendent Bloodline Knights were clearly not benevolent figures. If kneeling could save their lives, they would have no qualms about remaining on their knees.
Thus, the leader of the Rogue Vagabond Knights gritted his teeth against the pain in his knees and raised his head with a fawning expression. "My lord, I beg you to show mercy. Just consider us insignificant pests and let us go. We only intended to rob some money; we never meant to harm anyone!"
John understood well that he couldn't be too ruthless. After all, this was an unwritten rule on this vast continent! Wandering Knights typically did not take lives easily, and the highborn nobles rarely dealt harshly with these drifters.
"Let’s all stick to the rules," he said casually. "But I trust you know what I mean."
Upon hearing this, the thirteen Wandering Knights exchanged glances, communicating silently among themselves.
Then, in perfect unison, they began to remove their tattered armor and tossed it onto the ground. Each one tightly gripped their weapons and led their horses aside to clear a path.
John observed this with quiet interest; their swift and practiced movements suggested they had often encountered failed robberies and had accumulated considerable experience in dealing with such situations.
As a lord, John felt no pity for these Wandering Knights. He simply waved his hand dismissively, signaling his men to collect the discarded armor from the ground.
After everything was done, John maintained his courteous demeanor and smiled as he bid farewell to the Wandering Knights.
"Well then, goodbye my friends! I hope we have another chance to meet again."
