At this moment, although John had just stepped into the Half-Step Transcendent realm, he was still not someone an ordinary person could compare to. Only those from the same Transcendent races might be able to match him. Power, ha, indeed, in this world, strength reigns supreme.
After a busy period of organization, the team finally got everything sorted out. John stood quietly to the side, silently observing the scene before him, and a sense of indescribable emotion welled up within him. Looking at the soldiers who had been injured in battle, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of pain in his heart, even though he was not the type to be easily swayed by emotions. After all, for John, life might not be the most precious thing.
Since stepping into this perilous otherworld, he had experienced a journey from being a humble Serf to a brave Mercenary, and now to becoming a Lord. He had gradually been assimilated into this world and viewed life and death with a certain detachment like many others from different realms. At least when it came to the lives of those around him, he could face it with relative calmness.
The pain he felt at this moment was not out of pity for human life. In fact, each fallen soldier represented a loss to his personal wealth. In this world, as their leader, John needed to take on the responsibility of providing compensation for their families. If he failed to handle this matter properly, it would be difficult for anyone to be willing to risk their lives for him in the future. Previously, this task had always been managed by Redman; now that circumstances had changed, all the burdens rested squarely on his shoulders.
Just then, Master came running up to John with a serious expression to report. "My lord, after counting, we lost twenty-seven Courage warriors in this battle. However, fortunately, there were no serious injuries among them; we have already buried the bodies."
John nodded slightly, acknowledging that he understood the situation regarding the injuries. He then turned his gaze toward Johnny in the distance, who was carrying a bulging bag and asked, "Johnny, tell me how much we gained from this encounter?"
Struggling to lift the bag beside him, Johnny finally managed to pack everything up and wiped his hands before speaking. "My lord, we took down one ordinary Goblin and twenty-one of the larger ones. We didn't touch that Chieftain; I don't know if the whole body is worth more or just parts of it."
"Oh my God! So many!" John's eyes widened as he quickly calculated in his mind. Based on what he had learned about market prices earlier, an ordinary Goblin was worth several Silver Coins. If there were indeed ordinary Goblins here in total, that would amount to several Gold Coins. The larger Goblins were even more valuable; it was said that one could sell for several Gold Coins. With so many in front of him—calculating it all added up to several Gold Coins!
Realizing this brought John a sudden enlightenment; no wonder the Goblins around the big city had been hunted nearly to extinction—this truly represented considerable wealth! Now that he understood the profits from this venture, John no longer worried about compensation issues. He waved his hand and announced loudly:
"All soldiers who unfortunately fell in battle will have their families receive several Gold Coins as compensation; every surviving Courage warrior will receive several Silver Coins as a generous reward!"
As soon as John's words fell, all the soldiers present immediately cheered in unison. "Our lord is magnanimous! Our lord is mighty!" Their shouts echoed through the sky above this land that had just experienced fierce combat.
Looking at the excited and thrilled expressions of his soldiers, John couldn't help but smile with satisfaction. At that moment, he deeply understood why everyone wanted to become a leader; that feeling of being able to command attention and control the situation was simply too wonderful—it was intoxicating.
"Come on! Two of you carry these things back; two more take that Goblin Chief's body; everyone else follow me to check out these guys' lair!"
