At that moment, her gaze inadvertently swept over a familiar figure - Jian Chen. He was sitting at the window of the blood collection point in the hospital. The glass reflected the anxiety and unease in his eyes, and his face looked pale.
Xu Yi had just withdrawn her gaze when she stopped upon hearing Jian Chen's voice.
"No, can we not watch anymore? Let's go back," Jian Chen said, looking at the needles.
Xing Hao placed his hand on Jian Chen's shoulder, firmly pressing him down and smiling as he looked at Jian Chen's slightly pale face. "Oh, Master Jian, what's wrong with you? You're usually fearless, but you seem hesitant when it comes to getting blood drawn," Xing Hao deliberately raised his voice, attracting curious glances from the people around them.
Jian Chen's cheeks turned slightly red, and he tried to break free from Xing Hao's grip, but his weakened body seemed unable to resist. "Who... who said I'm afraid! I'm just... just feeling a bit uncomfortable," he tried to maintain composure in his response, but his voice trembled slightly, betraying his true feelings.
"Haha, uncomfortable? I think you're afraid of needles!" Xing Hao mercilessly exposed Jian Chen's disguise, laughing even more heartily.
Xu Yi involuntarily stopped in her tracks, feeling a surge of curiosity and concern. She softly said to Bai Jinxi and Yao Lu, "You two go back first, I... I have something to take care of."
Bai Jinxi and Yao Lu nodded in response to her words. Xu Yi walked lightly towards the blood drawing area where Jian Chen was.
Approaching Jian Chen with caution, Xu Yi stood by his side. Jian Chen had his eyes tightly closed and his brows furrowed, clearly trying to overcome inner fear and discomfort.
Xu Yi took a deep breath and decided to comfort Jian Chen in her own way. She gently reached out and tenderly covered Jian Chen's eyes, as if trying to block out all the unsettling sights and sounds with this small gesture. Jian Chen felt the sudden warmth and darkness, and after a moment of surprise, his body gradually relaxed. "Quiet," Xu Yi's voice was gentle yet firm, softly ringing in Jian Chen's ears.
Jian Chen was stunned for a moment, then slowly came back to his senses, listening to Xu Yi's words and feeling the warmth of her palm, the fear and unease in his heart gradually dissipated.
As time passed by, the process of drawing blood seemed to become less long and agonizing for Jian Chen. When the nurse softly informed him that it was over, Jian Chen slowly opened his eyes. He looked at Xu Yi and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
Seeing the smile on Jian Chen's face after he opened his eyes, the nurse couldn't help but chuckle, her tone carrying a hint of teasing and goodwill: "Tsk, really, the lovey-dovey atmosphere has even spread to the hospital."
Jian Chen heard this and a hint of embarrassment flashed across his face, but he quickly concealed it.
Xu Yi saw Jian Chen trying to leave after drawing blood, but was suddenly grabbed by Jian Chen. Just as Jian Chen was about to say something, a sudden dizziness overwhelmed him, making his world spin in an instant.
Seeing this, Xu Yi's face changed drastically. She immediately reached out to support Jian Chen and anxiously shouted, "Jian Chen, what's wrong? Hey! Don't scare me!" But Jian Chen was unable to stand firm, and his body involuntarily leaned forward, eventually leaning weakly against Xu Yi.
The nurse immediately reacted upon seeing the situation, quickly stepped forward to help support Jian Chen, and pressed the emergency call button. "Quick, he needs to lie down and rest, it might be a fainting reaction," the nurse said, as she and Xu Yi carefully moved Jian Chen to a nearby resting area.
Xu Yi's heart was in her throat, she tightly held Jian Chen's hand, continuously calling his name, trying to keep him conscious. But Jian Chen's eyes were tightly closed, his face as pale as paper, clearly having lost consciousness.
Soon, the doctor arrived on the scene and conducted a preliminary examination of Jian Chen. After a busy period, the doctor announced that Jian Chen had developed pneumonia due to a prolonged cold, and the situation was somewhat serious, requiring hospitalization for treatment and observation for a period of time.
