Undercover in Taiji Nation: A Gangster's Journey

Park Bucheng suddenly opened his eyes, the acrid smell of smoke and alcohol hitting him like a heavy punch to the face. He coughed a few times, his stomach churning as if it might expel the remnants of last night's meal. The stench was a hundred times worse than anything he had ever encountered near a garbage dump. 0

He found himself curled up on a dilapidated sofa, one that seemed to have gone years without cleaning, emanating a nauseating moldy odor. The dimly lit basement around him was adorned with various gaudy posters, featuring scantily clad women who winked at him in a way that made his scalp crawl. A flickering yellow bulb overhead threatened to extinguish at any moment, casting eerie shadows throughout the room. 0

"Where the hell am I?" Park Bucheng instinctively touched his face and felt a pair of black-framed glasses. They were smudged with grease and fingerprints, and the lenses were somewhat foggy, making the entire world appear shrouded in mist. 0

Not far away, a cacophony of footsteps echoed, sounding like the hooves of beasts pounding against the floor—heavy and powerful. Accompanying the footsteps were crude laughter and banter, filled with vulgarities that pierced his ears like needles, filling him with disgust. 0

Park Bucheng quickly shut his eyes and pretended to be asleep, his heart pounding like a drum. He had no idea where he was or what would happen next; this fear of the unknown nearly suffocated him. 0

"Is that useless piece still sleeping?" A rough male voice thundered in his ear, causing his eardrums to buzz painfully. "Damn it, kick him awake!" 0

Before Park Bucheng could react, a sharp pain shot through his abdomen as if he had been rammed by a wild bull. He curled up in agony, unable to suppress a muffled groan. 0

"Get up! Brother Li wants to see you!" A bald man roughly grabbed him by the collar and yanked him up like he was lifting a chick. Park Bucheng felt as if his neck might snap, making it hard to breathe. 0

This was his chance to take in his surroundings more carefully. The basement housed seven or eight intimidating thugs, each one broad-shouldered and muscular, forming walls around him. They bore grotesque tattoos of skulls and snakes on their bodies, their fierce gazes suggesting they could pounce on him at any moment. 0

"W-where am I?" Park Bucheng feigned fear, his voice trembling like a frightened rabbit. 0

"What are you playing at? You little punk stole Brother Li's money and now pretend you don't remember?" The bald man mercilessly slapped him across the face, the fiery pain spreading instantly. 0

That slap acted like lightning, cutting through Park Bucheng's foggy memories. He recalled that the original owner of this body was an underling of Taiji Nation's West Side Gang who had been caught after stealing money from the gang. 0

"Damn it!" Park Bucheng cursed inwardly. What kind of cliché plot was this? How did a law-abiding citizen like him end up in the body of a gangster underling? 0

"I'm... I'm really sorry, I know I was wrong..." Park Bucheng lowered his head, feigning a look of deep remorse while his mind raced to devise a plan. He felt like a lamb waiting for slaughter, caught in the clutches of these ferocious wolves, and a single misstep could lead to him being torn apart. 0

Several thugs roughly shoved him, pushing him up the stairs to an opulent office. This office stood in stark contrast to the dark, damp basement, with its soft carpet, luxurious furniture, and a faint scent of cigars lingering in the air. 0

A burly man with a scar sat on a leather sofa, exhaling clouds of smoke. He was tall and imposing, clearly not someone to be trifled with. He was Li Zhenghao, the leader of the West Side Gang. 0

"Kneel!" The Bald Man kicked Park Bucheng in the knee, causing him to stumble and fall to the ground. 0

Park Bucheng gritted his teeth, enduring the pain in his knee while cursing inwardly, "Damn it, these guys are so arrogant. Just wait until I turn things around; I'll make you pay!" 0

"Kid, do you know what happens when you steal from the gang?" Li Zhenghao exhaled a puff of smoke, his gaze cold and predatory like a snake's. 0

At that moment, a mechanical voice suddenly echoed in Park Bucheng's mind: "Ding! Host detected in a dangerous situation; martial arts inheritance system activated!" 0

"Congratulations, host has acquired 'Graceful Wave Steps' from 'Tian Long Ba Bu'!" 0

A surge of joy filled Park Bucheng's heart; this was like a timely gift! With 'Graceful Wave Steps,' he at least had a glimmer of hope for escape. But on the surface, he continued to act as if he were about to cry. "Brother Li, I really know I was wrong. Please give me another chance..." 0

"Another chance?" Li Zhenghao sneered. "Someone break his legs!" 0

The thugs immediately rolled up their sleeves and surrounded him, but Park Bucheng's eyes quietly sharpened. 0

Just as one thug swung his fist at him, it felt as if an unusual power surged through Park Bucheng's body. He lightly tapped his foot and floated back like a falling leaf, effortlessly dodging the thug's attack. 0

"What?" The thugs were stunned; they had not expected this frail-looking kid to possess such agility. 0

Park Bucheng was taken aback himself; the Graceful Wave Steps were surprisingly profound. His body moved with an incredible lightness, as if he could dissolve into the air at any moment. 0

Li Zhenghao squinted his eyes, a hint of interest appearing on his face. "Interesting..." 0

Several henchmen charged forward again, but Park Bucheng slipped through them like a slippery eel, weaving back and forth without anyone managing to touch the hem of his clothing. His movements were erratic, darting left and right like a nimble swallow dancing in the air. 0

"Enough!" Li Zhenghao suddenly spoke, his voice carrying an air of authority that made everyone stop in their tracks. 0

Park Bucheng also stood still, pretending to be out of breath, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. 0

Li Zhenghao stared at Park Bucheng for a long moment before breaking into a smile. "Kid, your footwork is impressive. Let’s call it even this time; just do your job well in the future." 0

Park Bucheng quickly bowed his head. "Thank you, Brother Li! Thank you, Brother Li!" 0

"Get lost." Li Zhenghao waved his hand dismissively, as if swatting away a fly. 0

Park Bucheng scrambled out of the office, but just as he turned to leave, a sly smile crept onto his lips. 0

As he was about to exit the gang's hideout, he suddenly heard hurried footsteps behind him. 0

"Stop!" a chilling voice rang out. "Brother Li has changed his mind..." 0
