"Are we heading to Magic City?" Yan Kongyue twisted in her seat, half her body turned towards the back.
"Yes, let's ask Big Brother and Grandpa when we're going to Magic City! We should wait for them there," Lin Qian replied eagerly. She quickly called Lin Lie to find out the exact time. After hanging up, she turned to Yan Kongyue and said, "They're flying to Magic City tomorrow, and Old Man Bai's birthday banquet is the night after!"
"Is it that soon?" Yan Kongyue had completely forgotten about the timing.
Lin Feng, Lin Xiao, Lin Qian, and Huo Jingyu took turns driving throughout the day and finally arrived at Magic City in the evening.
They parked at Sky Hotel.
Yan Kongyue playfully patted the business vehicle. "Well, that was a quick trip!"
"Sis, you completely overlooked the hard work of your four brothers," Huo Jingyu said with a look of mock sorrow.
"Yeah, we drove nearly a thousand kilometers, and you’re giving all the credit to this car!"
"You just said it was you four who did the driving; each of you only drove a few hundred kilometers," Lin Qian teased while digging in her ears.
"Fifth Brother, why does that sound so uncomfortable?"
"She’s doing it on purpose!" Lin Xiao patted Lin Qian on the shoulder and led the way into the hotel lobby.
The rooms had been arranged by Lin Lie in advance, securing an entire floor for them.
The next afternoon, when Lin Lie, the Lin Family Patriarch, and Huo Jingyu's older brother arrived at the hotel with several staff members, Yan Kongyue and the others were waiting at the entrance.
"Grandpa!" As soon as Lin Old Man got out of the car, Yan Kongyue happily ran over.
Even though she knew he wasn't her biological grandfather, she had missed him during their time apart.
"Oh my dear granddaughter, let Grandpa see if you've lost weight." The old man looked at her like he was trying to coax a child. After inspecting her closely, he nodded with satisfaction. "Hmm, not bad. You haven't lost weight or gotten tanned!"
Heaven knows how heartbroken he felt when he learned that Yan Kongyue had personally led people to build a cemetery. Yet he couldn't find the words to stop her; after all, what the children did was their duty. He could only ask Lin Lie to call the other boys and remind them to help out more and take care of their sister.
"Grandpa looks good!"
"Yes, it's all thanks to you."
"Big Brother, why did you only bring these few people this time?" Lin Feng glanced at the accompanying staff with surprise.
"You’re all here; there’s no need for so many bodyguards. Grandpa is in good health now; even if something happens, we still have Yan Kongyue!"
"Little Yu!" Huo Jinghan stepped out from the crowd and glared at his younger brother, unsure whether to scold him or give him a pat on the back.
"Brother!" Huo Jingyu shrank his neck and hid behind Lin Qian as he met his brother's gaze.
"You're just going to run off this far without saying a word?"
"Brother, didn't I ask Aunt to tell Mom?"
"Aunt did say something, but why didn't you say it yourself? Did you lose your voice or something? Do you know how worried Mom and Dad are?"
"Oh come on, what’s there to worry about? Even if I let you take a shot at me, you probably wouldn’t stand a chance!" Huo Jingyu puffed out his chest defiantly as he looked at his older brother.
"Cousin, stop scolding him. Jingyu has grown a lot from this trip!" Lin Feng quickly stepped in to mediate.
"Exactly! Cousin, take a good look. Huo Jingyu really is different from before," Lin Qian chimed in, worried that his brother might give Huo Jingyu a beating.
"Well, he does look much sturdier!" In truth, he was just trying to intimidate Huo Jingyu a bit. Everything they had done on the journey had been reported back to their father by Lin Lie. Their father intended to toughen him up a little; otherwise, he would have sent someone to bring him back long ago.
