"Mom, I know I was wrong, but... sigh, it's all my fault. I knew you were stubborn, and if I hadn't stopped you, you would have taken this step anyway." He Mama said, pounding her chest.
"Mom, please don't say that. It's not your fault; it's all my..." Yan Kongyue glanced at Lin Lang, and the two quietly got up and walked to the balcony to give them some space.
Humans and spirits walk different paths. How many people leave this world with regrets? All that remains for the living is longing and pain. Lin Lang stood on the balcony, gazing into the distance.
"Yes! Sister, do you know how great what you've done is?" Lin Lang looked at Yan Kongyue with admiration.
"It's not really great; it's just that heaven gave me this ability, and I try my best not to let it go to waste. But there are so many people and spirits in need of help."
"Exactly! Meeting someone like you is truly a blessing." Yan Kongyue's words trailed off, but Lin Lang knew that in this vast sea of people, it was rare to encounter someone special.
"Fourth Brother, are you still afraid?"
"I'm not afraid anymore, Sister. Open Ling Yan for me. If I see those spirits in need of help, I'll tell them to come find you. How does that sound?"
"Ah!" Yan Kongyue raised her hand and touched Lin Lang's forehead, a flash of golden light entering.
"Is it done?" Lin Lang blinked, feeling nothing particularly special. She just didn't realize yet what it meant to have opened Ling Yan.
"Yes!"
About an hour later.
"Boss He Bin's voice came from behind."
"I got it!"
In the living room, apart from He Bin, the other three stood up, looking at Yan Kongyue and Lin Lang with gratitude.
"He Bin will need some time to recover before he can leave. If you wish, I can bring him back to see you again before he goes," said He Mama.
"Thank you for your kindness. We've already discussed everything that needs to be settled. When the time comes, let him leave peacefully. If we meet again, it might be hard to part." He Mama spoke while wiping her tears, but she was no longer in the same state of despair as before.
"Yes, He Xuan, the weather will change. Around noon, take your mother out to bask in the sun. Your brother is a spirit; being exposed to Gui Qi won't be good for you."
"Thank you!"
"Take care, uncle and aunt. We're leaving now!" Yan Kongyue glanced at He Bin and saw him nodding before waving her hand to draw him into the Porcelain Bottle.
"Auntie, here is my phone number. If you need any help, feel free to call me." Yan Kongyue slipped a note into He Mama's palm. This was something she had thought of on the spur of the moment; perhaps there were others around them who might need assistance.
"Thank you, dear!" He Mama trembled as she accepted the note.
He Bin had already informed them about Yan Kongyue's identity and her abilities, but he hadn’t revealed Lin Lang's identity.
He Bin's family escorted Yan Kongyue downstairs, and only then did they drive away.
The rain had stopped, the dark clouds dispersed, and the humidity in the air gradually turned warm.
"He Bin, are you going back to your cousin's house?"
He Bin sat in the back seat, watching the hurried pedestrians outside as he shook his head.
"No, since we are already separated by life and death, there’s no need to linger. Didn't you say she wouldn’t find happiness in her later years? Then let her enjoy what she has!"
