"Pah, it stinks!"
"Tsk tsk tsk, here comes a Lao Gui. With your looks, how dare you call yourself the Ghost King?" Yan Kongyue rolled her eyes in disdain.
Lao Gui glanced at his diminished forces, clearly missing half of his ghosts, and Gui Qi had also weakened considerably.
"Who are you?" he asked in an ancient voice filled with anger.
"You'll find out when you go to Difu. It's not your turn to ask questions yet. Now tell me, why aren't you going to Difu? What do you intend to do by lingering here?" Yan Kongyue tapped a large drink bottle against her other hand.
"This mountain has been my family's property for generations. My Zhao Family ancestors are buried here, and the treasures buried with them are countless. Of course, I have to guard the wealth accumulated by my forebears!" The self-proclaimed Ghost King Lao Gui looked at Yan Kongyue as if she understood nothing.
"You're already dead; why incite other ghosts to harm people?"
"Harm people? Who am I harming?"
"Lin Family Young Master!"
"Oh, that kid? My descendants made wishes; of course, I have to grant them!" Lao Gui floated arrogantly in mid-air, completely oblivious to the fact that more of his little ghosts were disappearing.
"Who are your descendants, and what are they wishing for?"
"Why should I tell you? Little girl, I advise you to go home and sleep early; mind your own business or you'll end up with dark circles under your eyes tomorrow." After saying this, Lao Gui enlarged his spirit form several times in an attempt to intimidate the reckless girl before him.
Yan Kongyue had lost interest in bantering with him. In an instant, a powerful pressure emanated from her, causing her dark hair to flutter slightly and leaves to rustle. The little ghosts in the forest were shaken and scattered but could not escape from this place.
For over a hundred years, Lao Gui had never encountered such a formidable human; he was momentarily taken aback. Just as he was stunned, Yan Kongyue casually threw out a strand of spiritual energy that transformed into a golden thread in mid-air, instantly binding Lao Gui tightly.
"W-what are you?! Who are you?!" As soon as he was bound, Lao Gui felt as if all his ghostly essence was being drained away. The places where the golden thread wrapped around him felt like they were being scorched by sunlight—excruciatingly painful. More importantly, he felt fear; a ghost was afraid! He clearly understood that just moments ago, he had experienced the kind of terror that could lead to his soul scattering into oblivion at any second.
"If it weren't for needing answers from you, you'd have turned to ashes by now!"
"Spare me! Spare me! I'll talk!" Lao Gui, amidst his agonizing cries, revealed everything about his descendants' wishes.
"Xie Bian, Fan Wu Jiu, come here quickly!"
The recently patrolling Er Gui Jiang felt a chill run down his spine and quickly appeared on the scene.
"I'm here! I'm here!" A wave of oppressive terror filled the air as Heibai Wuchang and Er Gui Jiang emerged before Yan Kongyue.
All the little ghosts on the mountain froze for a moment but quickly floated towards Er Gui Jiang, lining up to follow him down to Difu. If it weren't for Lao Gui's coercion and temptation, they wouldn't want to stay here at all.
Trembling from being bound by the soul-binding spirit, Lao Gui quaked at the sight of Heibai Wuchang, as if seeing a savior; he immediately knelt on the ground.
"Hurry up and deal with this place!" Yan Kongyue didn't even give him a chance to complain; even if he did, it would be pointless.
It was only then that I realized there were so many ghosts here. My expression changed instantly, and the Soul Locking Chain flew out. In no time, the forest became much clearer, and with Yan Kongyue around, the ghostly energy on the mountain began to fade.
Then, Yan Kongyue tossed a filled beverage bottle to Xie Bian.
When Fan Wu Jiu saw the bottle, memories of being trapped inside one flooded back to him. His eyelids twitched; even after many years, thinking about it still made him feel uncomfortable, especially considering the leftover drink inside that had dirtied everything.
"Boss, should we take that one with us?" Fan Wu Jiu asked, feeling a bit guilty. After all, with so many ghosts lingering in the human realm, it was certainly part of their duty. He chose his words carefully before Yan Kongyue could lose his temper.
Yan Kongyue then remembered He Bin. Glancing at the ghost hiding behind her, she said to Fan Wu Jiu, "Let’s wait a few days. His situation isn’t resolved yet. Once it's taken care of, I’ll personally send him down."
"Understood! Then we’ll take our leave for now!"
