Cheng Xin felt a twinge of fear as her gaze fixed on her. However, when Wang Xiaoyan opened the dormitory door, Cheng Xin's eyes widened in horror. No, she regretted not being able to shout out that word as she watched Wang Xiaoyan leap from the fifth floor.
She rushed outside, covering her mouth in shock, and tentatively peered down. Instantly, her gaze recoiled. Her face turned pale, and her body trembled uncontrollably.
Below, a pool of blood spread across the ground, oozing from the back of Wang Xiaoyan's head. She lay there alone, her blood splattering onto the blooming Plum Blossom Tree nearby, making the vibrant flowers even more striking.
The final image shattered as the time for using Time Rewind came to an end.
Tan Ming, Yan Qing, Qi Qiuluo, and others wore solemn expressions.
"Again, it's Wang Xiaoyan!" Qi Qiuluo remarked.
Yan Qing clenched his fists. This dormitory had once been a female residence, and two people had died here before! He glanced at the cracked ceiling and thought it was no wonder it had been struck by lightning.
Tan Ming's gaze fell upon the Crimson Cross. In his mind, he replayed Wang Xiaoyan's expression as she repeatedly sketched the Crimson Cross with a numb look on her face. The Crimson Cross generally symbolized redemption. Wang Xiaoyan drawing the Crimson Cross meant she sought her own salvation! But what had she gone through? Wei Yu had jumped due to public pressure; what about Wang Xiaoyan? Why did she ultimately choose to leap as well? This puzzled Tan Ming.
Wang Xiaoyan's death was definitely not that simple! Qi Qiuluo asserted.
His attention shifted to Li Yan, who had come to inform them about guaranteed admission for further studies. Such significant news should be something any normal person would welcome.
But Wang Xiaoyan...
Her demeanor clearly indicated that she had been mentally disturbed!
"Perhaps we'll uncover the truth once we reach the playground!" Tan Ming suggested.
"You mean..." Everyone recalled Cheng Xin's question to Wang Xiaoyan.
"What did Lin Hao say to you at the playground? Why have you been having nightmares lately?"
Wang Xiaoyan had changed only after meeting Lin Hao!
The group made their way to the playground.
Tan Ming prepared for one last use of Time Rewind.
He was recalling the moment when Wang Xiaoyan and Lin Hao met, but the scene shifted, and they found themselves inside a villa.
A young boy came down the stairs, quietly followed by a small child with curly hair, only four or five years old, looking adorable. The child looked up at the tall boy in front of him and called out, "Brother!" But as he did so, he missed a step and tumbled down the staircase.
The older boy frowned, seemingly troubled by how a child could be so clumsy.
"Brother!"
Yet he reacted quickly, turning around and rushing over. After the child rolled down several steps, he managed to grab hold of the child's shirt, preventing him from falling further.
A few people looked at Tan Ming.
The time rewind was Tan Ming's memory!
That boy was Tan Ming returning home from school!
The child had a bump on his head and bruises on his arms and legs, crying loudly. Tan Ming held the child close, his brow furrowed in concern.
The commotion upstairs drew attention, and a woman along with a man rushed out. The woman gasped at the sight of her son’s injuries and hurriedly took him into her arms to comfort him.
The man, seeing his younger son’s bruises, felt a surge of pain for him. Without asking what had happened, he raised his hand and slapped Tan Ming across the face in anger. "I know you don’t like your brother, but I didn’t expect you to be so cruel!"
Tan Ming's gaze was wounded, even incredulous. He looked at the man with a cold smile before turning away to leave. The man shouted angrily behind him, "If you walk away now, don’t ever come back!"
