In his heart, there was only one thought: to hold tightly onto this sturdy leg and never let go.
The two of them mounted the Chasing Wind Horse once again and continued their journey into the distance. After more than half a month of travel, they had covered thousands of miles and arrived at the western region of the Great Qin Kingdom, in the territory of Blood Demon Valley.
The entire expanse of Blood Demon Valley was vast, encompassing five prefectures and over thirty cities, serving as a paradise for all those who dwelt in sin. Here, one could kill at will, engage in battles, and commit robbery without anyone caring about life or death.
Yun Fan and Zhou Da Cong reached Bloody City within Blood Demon Valley. As they rode into the city on their Chasing Wind Horse, a bloody human head rolled towards them, landing right beneath their horse's hooves.
In front of them, two groups of people were locked in fierce combat, with flashes of swords and glimmers of cold light illuminating the scene. Bodies fell continuously, blood splattering across the streets as they fought each other, seemingly intent on killing one another to end the conflict.
Seeing this scene, Yun Fan raised his eyebrows in surprise; he hadn't expected Blood Demon Valley to be so chaotic, with such brutal violence occurring even within the city. Zhou Da Cong, however, seemed unfazed and muttered under his breath.
"Yun Fan," he said, "Blood Demon Valley is a place of chaos where all bloodthirsty individuals gather. Many have grown accustomed to killing; their hearts are filled with brutality. A slight argument can lead to murder. As long as you are strong enough, others will not dare to provoke you. But if you are weak and come here carelessly, you might just become another soul lost."
Yun Fan nodded at these words. Although he felt somewhat uncomfortable with the situation, he could still accept it. After all, in this world, strength was paramount; the weak would inevitably become prey while the strong could roam freely—even in Blood Demon Valley.
However, he still had some doubts and asked, "Zhou Da Cong, won't all these people eventually kill each other off?"
Zhou Da Cong chuckled. "Don't worry about that. Not every city in Blood Demon Valley is as chaotic as Bloody City. Some powerful individuals occupy a city and establish rules that prohibit fighting among martial artists within their domain."
"Many cultivators choose to settle in these stable cities but must pay a portion of their spirit stones for protection. Just like our master, who has taken control of a city named Blood Demon City. He has decreed that private duels are forbidden; anyone caught killing will face severe consequences. Thus, Blood Demon City is relatively stable and prosperous—its level of prosperity is not inferior to Yongyang County in the Great Qin Kingdom."
"The chaos in Bloody City stems from the recent murder of its lord. With no regulations in place now, people can kill freely without any oversight. It will only be when a strong individual returns to suppress everyone and establish order that peace can be restored."
Yun Fan nodded again; he was quite satisfied with the rules of Blood Demon Valley—where strength commanded respect and weakness relegated one to insignificance.
As the sky gradually darkened, a voice echoed once more.
"We're definitely going to spend the night in this Bloody City. Let's find an inn to stay at; as long as we are careful, we should be able to get through the night," Yun Fan said. "Tomorrow, we’ll head to Blood Demon City. Once we reach our master’s territory, no one will dare to cause any trouble."
Yun Fan nodded, feeling that staying within the city would be much safer.
The two of them then avoided the ongoing skirmishes and made their way down the street. Surrounding them were several burly men, their eyes fixed on Yun Fan and Zhou Da Cong with a glint of malice, as if contemplating murder for treasure.
However, these men dared not act recklessly; they had no idea about the backgrounds of the two travelers. If they provoked someone they couldn’t handle, it could very well end in their demise right there.
