Inside the large tent, Xie Yuanlong sat at the head of the table, his expression dark and brooding. He had been waiting in Thundercloud Valley for three months without a glimpse of that kid, and he was beginning to doubt whether the boy had been struck dead by lightning.
After a moment of contemplation, his gaze turned fierce as he looked at Li Ying beside him and barked coldly, "Are you sure you saw that kid? He wasn't struck by lightning but instead headed deeper into the valley?"
Hearing the angry shout, Li Ying quickly lowered his head and replied slowly, "Leader, this is absolutely true. I saw with my own eyes as he ran into the valley. Even when lightning struck, it disappeared above his head."
Upon hearing this, Xie Yuanlong stroked his chin thoughtfully. If the kid was unharmed, why hadn’t he come down yet? Moreover, the steep cliffs surrounding Thundercloud Valley left only one way out; it was impossible for him to escape from anywhere else.
Just then, an excited underling rushed in, panic evident on his face. "Leader! Good news!"
Xie Yuanlong raised an eyebrow at this and shouted angrily, "What good news? If you can't explain yourself properly, I'll twist your head off and use it as a ball!"
The underling trembled at the threat, nearly collapsing to the ground. Summoning his courage, he stammered, "Leader, that kid has come down from the valley!"
Xie Yuanlong was taken aback by this news; excitement filled his eyes. Heaven does not disappoint those who are determined—after waiting so long, he finally had a chance to confront the boy. He immediately stood up and cursed loudly, "Gather everyone! We cannot let this kid escape; otherwise, I will make an example of you all!"
With that command, Xie Yuanlong charged out of the tent, leading his underlings in a grand procession outside to wait for Yun Fan's arrival.
As Yun Fan descended, he carefully searched his surroundings. He hoped to find some Monster Cores; after all, with such a vast valley, there should be plenty of beasts that had accidentally wandered in. Sure enough, as he made his way down, he found six Monster Cores—only one was First Level; the rest were of higher tiers.
Yun Fan's face revealed a smile; with these few tokens, he had enough to break through to the True Essence Realm.
Soon, he arrived at the foot of the mountain and immediately spotted the members of the Mighty Tiger Mercenary Group. Each of them looked fierce, gripping their weapons tightly as they surrounded the area.
At the forefront stood a burly man with a grim expression; this must be Xie Yuanlong, the leader of the Mighty Tiger Group. Beside him was Li Ying, who wore a cold smirk and had a cruel glint in her eyes.
Yun Fan looked at the crowd before him, his expression calm and unperturbed, even managing to smile faintly. These people were perfectly positioned; if he could eliminate them all, no one would know he had obtained the inheritance from Thundercloud Valley. The news wouldn’t spread, preventing any unnecessary trouble.
Xie Yuanlong gripped a Ghost Head Broadsword and glared at Yun Fan, his voice cold as he shouted, "Kid, so you’re the one who snatched my opportunity, huh? You’d better hand it over quickly. I might just spare your life. If you don’t comply, I’ll make sure to torture you to death!"
Upon hearing this, Yun Fan grinned wider, his shoulders shaking slightly as if amused. He retorted mockingly, "Xie Yuanlong, what a grandiose claim! From this distance, I can already smell that overwhelming stench. Did you eat something foul today?"
