“Knock, knock.” The sound of knocking echoed, and Lu Jin suddenly opened his eyes. There was no one else in the office but himself. 0

When the door opened, in walked his secretary, Xiao Ya. She was Lu Jin's newly hired secretary—beautiful, charming, and young. 0

“What is it, Xiao Ya?” Lu Jin casually wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. 0

“The chairman is looking for you, Manager Lu,” Xiao Ya replied, her tone always crisp and pleasant. Lu Jin smiled and stood up. 0

In the chairman's office, the gray-haired chairman shook his head repeatedly. Upon seeing Lu Jin arrive, he waved for him to sit down. The chairman looked at Lu Jin and nodded, saying, “Xiao Lu, I’ve always believed you were capable of being promoted to the new general manager. It’s a pity that you encountered issues at a critical moment. However, now you have another opportunity—a significant one. You must seize it.” 0

“Oh? Chairman, hasn’t Cheng Qiang already been promoted to general manager?” Lu Jin asked. 0

“Ah, this Cheng Qiang… I won’t hide it from you any longer, Lu Jin. Today the company discovered that there were unauthorized transactions of company assets and cash recorded on Cheng Qiang’s computer. Just think about it; the company has treated him well, yet he repays us like this—it’s infuriating,” the chairman sighed. “The company has already reported him to the police. At first, Cheng Qiang denied everything, but later he admitted to it all. Now he’s been taken away by the police and will be waiting to serve time.” 0

A look of regret crossed Lu Jin's face, but inside he felt an exhilarating thrill; this time, he had gained much more. 0

On the third day, Lu Jin was successfully promoted to general manager of the company. 0

In the darkness, Lu Jin's gaze burned with intensity as if ignited by a fierce flame. He shouted into the darkness, “Come out; I know you’re there. This time, I will obtain more—much more.” 0

A smile echoed from the shadows, dark as if it came from hell. 0

Lu Jin began to ride a wave of good fortune. Within days of becoming general manager, the former vice president resigned due to heart problems and went home for recovery. The board collectively decided to temporarily appoint their new favorite, Lu Jin, as vice president. From deputy manager to vice president in less than three months—he had truly soared to great heights. Following that, Lu Jin was selected as one of the top ten outstanding youths by S City Television Station; good luck seemed to come in waves. However, behind this honor, all he received were superficial smiles of flattery while his heart grew increasingly empty and lonely. 0

He remembered Fang Xia, the girl who had provided him with both physical and emotional comfort during his most lost and lonely moments. But now, she was no longer in this world. Who else could truly enter his heart? 0

The graceful figure of Xiao Ya emerged in Lu Jin's mind, her innocent and beautiful smile, her alluring figure—she was exactly the type of girl Lu Jin admired. However, he had heard from Xiao Ya that she would be getting engaged in a month. 0

What should he do? Give up? A sly smile suddenly appeared on Lu Jin's face. In the past, he would have given up, but not now. 0

Lu Jin found the Puppet Man, whose gaze seemed to be filled with an even darker aura. It tilted its head and shook its frail legs incessantly, making Lu Jin feel a bit dizzy. Lu Jin shared his thoughts with the Puppet Man, who looked at him and said, "She already has someone she loves. It seems you don’t have much of a chance, do you?" 0

Lu Jin smiled and replied, "Nothing is absolute; there will always be opportunities to change things. That's what you said, right?" 0

The Puppet Man laughed, its smile still causing discomfort in Lu Jin's heart. He tried to avoid looking at its grin, but the Puppet Man's cold and sinister face kept invading his thoughts. 0

Taking a deep breath, Lu Jin approached as the Puppet Man flipped its hands, revealing a swirling black sphere in its palm. 0

As Lu Jin drew closer, the Puppet Man suddenly spoke: "Remember, opportunities exist, but not every opportunity will help you change things; that is not absolute. Perhaps you will have to pay a price for it." Eagerly listening to the Puppet Man's words, Lu Jin quickly stepped into the black sphere. 0
