Then, the Foreman turned to Ling Xue and said, "I sincerely apologize, but this young lady is no longer available. I regret to have disappointed you. All drinks are on the house, and the young lady will be half price. How does that sound?"
Ling Xue's eyes widened in anger as she slammed her hand on the table and raised her voice, "Do you look down on me? Is there no girl that I like? Just bring out Ten Thousand Fusang Coins! I’m not short on money! If you won’t let that girl come, are you trying to disrespect me? Or do you want to bring that Hoshino kid over here?"
The crowd erupted in an uproar at her words. She stood up, hands on her hips, glaring fiercely at everyone around her.
Ling Xue continued with a commanding tone, "Let that girl accompany me for ten thousand. Or bring Hoshino over here for ten thousand. You all can figure it out! She slammed her hand on the table again, causing the cups to tremble slightly.
Then, she crossed her arms and tapped her foot impatiently on the ground, her gaze radiating an undeniable authority as if declaring to everyone that she would not back down until she got what she wanted.
The crowd was momentarily silenced by Ling Xue's imposing presence. The attendants exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond. Under the harsh light reflecting off the Foreman's blonde hair, his face shifted from pale to flushed, clearly flustered by this sudden turn of events.
After a moment, the Foreman forced a smile and stepped forward, bowing slightly as he said, "Please don’t be angry, dear customer. We will find a way to contact that young lady right away; just calm down for now. As for Hoshino, we will also do our best to locate him quickly."
Ling Xue snorted coldly and sat back down, crossing her legs and lightly tapping her fingers on the table as she said, "You better hurry; my patience is limited."
The Foreman nodded urgently and waved for the attendants to get moving. They scattered like they had been granted a reprieve and began searching for news about Nana Ko and Hoshino.
Time passed second by second as Ling Xue sat there seemingly relaxed but internally anxious. She was uncertain whether her plan would succeed or what would happen next. But she knew she had to hold firm; she couldn’t back down if she wanted to find Nana Ko.
Just then, an attendant rushed over and whispered something in the Foreman's ear. The Foreman's expression darkened further; he hesitated for a moment before approaching Ling Xue cautiously and saying, "Boss, we still can’t reach that young lady. However, we have found some information about Hoshino—he lives in an apartment in the west of the city."
Before the Foreman could finish his sentence, Ling Xue coldly interrupted him: "In that case, take me to find Hoshino. As for that young lady, you continue trying to contact her; I must see her later."
With that, she stood up and adjusted her clothing with a determined expression as if everything was under her control. The Foreman had no choice but to comply and led Ling Xue hurriedly toward the western part of the city.
When they arrived at Hoshino's apartment and pushed open the door, a strong stench of blood assaulted them. Upon closer inspection, they saw Hoshino lying on the floor, already dead. His body was covered in wounds, blood soaking into the ground.
Ling Xue's heart sank; she hadn’t expected this outcome. Time was running out for Huan Mian; she needed to leave quickly. She turned to the attendant who had led them there and said, "Here’s ten thousand for you; remember, I was never here." The attendants looked at her in terror and nodded repeatedly.
Ling Xue hurriedly left Hoshino's apartment and pretended to be disappointed as she walked away. "What a letdown," she muttered under her breath. Her heart was filled with confusion and unease; Hoshino's death complicated matters even further.
