As preparations for the wedding began, the entire villa complex became a flurry of activity. Liu Jiedong spared no expense, inviting celebrities and wealthy elites to attend the ceremony. He wanted everyone to witness his glory and wealth.
Meanwhile, Ling Xue and Ling Na felt an overwhelming sense of oppression and loneliness amidst the bustling atmosphere. They had no idea what fate this wedding would bring them or how they would navigate their futures.
Two days later, the wedding arrived as scheduled, and the scene was nothing short of extravagant and grand.
The outside of the villa complex was adorned like a palace from a dream, filled with vibrant flowers and fluttering ribbons. A long red carpet stretched from the villa entrance across the lawn, flanked by exquisite floral columns that exuded a fragrant aroma.
Guests from various elite families arrived in luxurious cars one after another, creating a spectacle akin to a luxury car feast. The attendees stepped out in formal attire; men wore tailored suits while women donned glamorous gowns adorned with dazzling jewelry, making the entire venue sparkle like stars.
A massive stage was erected at the wedding venue, decorated with white and pink satin. A huge crystal chandelier hung overhead, casting soft yet bright light. A band played romantic melodies, adding a unique atmosphere to this already complicated wedding.
Liu Jiedong held Ling Xue's hand proudly as they walked down the red carpet, as if flaunting his prized possession to the world.
The other women stood nearby watching with expressions of jealousy, resentment, and bitterness but could only helplessly observe.
Guests whispered among themselves about this extraordinary wedding, curious about what charm this woman possessed that made Liu Jiedong go to such lengths to marry her.
During the acknowledgment segment of relatives, Liu Jiedong looked sternly at Liu Jiang and Liu Ting and commanded without room for argument: "Come here and call out."
With faces full of humiliation and tears in their eyes, Liu Jiang and Liu Ting dared not defy him; they gritted their teeth and reluctantly approached Ling Xue, calling out unwillingly: "Mom." Then they turned to Ling Na and said: "Step-Mother."
Hearing Liu Jiang call her "Mom" pierced Ling Xue's heart like a sharp blade. She looked at Liu Jiang's pained and resentful eyes, filled with guilt and complex emotions. Yet in such a setting, she could only endure it and nodded slightly in response: "Good child."
At that moment, a mechanical voice suddenly echoed in Ling Xue's mind: "Congratulations to the host; the mission has been completed. You may now collect your reward."
Ling Xue was momentarily taken aback before an indescribable sense of relief washed over her. The pain and humiliation endured during this mission seemed to have reached a conclusion. However, looking at the chaotic and awkward scene before her, she couldn't help but wonder what awaited her next. After all, this complicated relationship had tightly bound her to those around her.
