The Black Curtain, granting everyone liberation.
That evening, Ling Xue arrived at the designated place set by Hei Hu, having meticulously dressed for the occasion. It was a luxurious private room, dimly lit and filled with an ambiguous atmosphere. Hei Hu sat on the sofa, a cigarette dangling from his lips. When he saw Ling Xue enter, a flicker of satisfaction crossed his eyes.
"You're here, come sit," Hei Hu gestured to the space beside him.
Ling Xue suppressed her inner disgust and slowly walked over to take a seat. She wore a forced smile while mentally strategizing how to broach the subject of Dai Dong.
"Tiger Brother, you look so handsome today," Ling Xue began with a flattering remark.
Hei Hu laughed heartily and wrapped an arm around Ling Xue's shoulders. "You have such sweet words. Tonight, make sure to keep me company; you won't regret it."
Ling Xue slightly turned her body to avoid his touch but dared not make it too obvious. "Tiger Brother, you're so good to me. I’ll definitely follow you closely from now on."
Hei Hu nodded in satisfaction and handed her a glass of wine. "Here, let’s drink together."
Ling Xue took the glass and sipped lightly. She knew she couldn’t drink too much; losing her composure would be dangerous.
"Tiger Brother, I heard there’s someone impressive recently—what was his name? Oh right, Dai Dong! Do you know him?" Ling Xue asked casually.
Hei Hu's expression shifted slightly but quickly returned to normal. "Dai Dong? I don’t know him. Why do you suddenly ask about this person?"
Ling Xue felt a tightening in her chest, realizing Hei Hu was lying. She quickly smoothed things over: "Oh, it’s nothing; just heard someone mention him and thought the name was quite special. Tiger Brother, you must know many interesting stories about people in this line of work. Why don’t you share some with me?"
Hei Hu relaxed his guard and began to recount some of his experiences. As Ling Xue listened, she sought another opportunity to bring up Dai Dong.
After a while, Ling Xue skillfully steered the conversation towards relationships. "Tiger Brother, with your charm, I bet many women are fond of you. Have you ever met someone who truly cared for you?"
He chuckled lightly. "True feelings? What are they worth in this world? But if you behave well, I won’t treat you poorly."
Seizing the moment, Ling Xue asked, "Tiger Brother, what would you think of a man who deceives a woman’s feelings and puts her in a difficult situation?"
Hei Hu frowned slightly. "That kind of man is scum. Why? Have you encountered someone like that?"
Ling Xue nodded. "Yes, I have a friend who was deceived by a man named Dai Dong; it was terrible for her. Tiger Brother, if you ever meet someone like that, would you help my friend get some justice?"
A complex emotion flickered in Hei Hu's eyes before he quickly masked it. "Hmph, I wouldn’t bother with such trivial matters. But you'd better not stir up trouble; otherwise, I can’t protect you either."
Ling Xue knew she couldn’t press further without raising Hei Hu's suspicions. She had no choice but to temporarily abandon that line of questioning and continue drinking and chatting with him while waiting for another opportunity.
Hei Hu was always accompanied by two lackeys; Ling Xue’s Charm Skill had its limits.
"Romance is perfectly normal; are you ready to keep me company tonight?"
"Tiger Brother, this is my first time; you must be gentle," Ling Xue said playfully, though a glimmer of determination shone in her eyes. Hei Hu was amused by her words and became increasingly relaxed around her.
