Inside the black Mercedes-Benz, Hong Niangzi and Zuo Ci sat side by side, and to be honest, she felt a bit anxious.
This was a killing god. For the first time, Hong Niangzi felt that her Charm Technique was utterly worthless. As she experienced this sense of defeat, her interest in Zuo Ci deepened. What kind of powerful heart lay hidden beneath that seemingly ordinary face?
Zuo Ci, on the other hand, had his eyes closed, resting. He had no interest in feminine charms and did not wish to engage in deep conversation with Hong Niangzi.
“How old is Fang Xian?” Hong Niangzi asked, looking at Zuo Ci with a hint of reluctance. She was confident in her beauty and couldn’t believe that Zuo Ci was truly an otherworldly being detached from mortal affairs.
“I don’t know,” Zuo Ci replied flatly. It was true; he had no idea how old the owner of this skin was—who would care about such things?
“Fang Xian is quite interesting!” Hong Niangzi said, feeling a bit awkward.
“Heh,” Zuo Ci scoffed slightly.
“Does Fang Xian have a partner?” Hong Niangzi continued to probe.
“Not important to me!” Zuo Ci replied impatiently, opening his eyes. “Are you counting the poor Dao’s household?”
“Not daring to!” Hong Niangzi shook her head, secretly cursing this person for being so unromantic; no wonder he looked so ordinary.
In a fit of defiance, she closed her eyes as well. No matter what, she wouldn’t say another word to Zuo Ci!
The black Mercedes-Benz continued its journey down the road.
Two men dressed in black uniforms stood on a distant hillside, their eyes seemingly flickering with something.
"Captain, isn't it a bit inappropriate for us to brazenly steal things?" one of the men, with fair skin, chuckled dryly. "After all, we belong to the Security Department and have our own ranks!"
"Is this even stealing?" the captain retorted, a hint of frustration in his voice. "Under heaven, there is no land that isn't ruled by the king; on the borders of the land, there are no subjects that aren't loyal to him. This stuff is rightfully ours! They took it from us and are trying to auction it off. We’re just reclaiming what belongs to us!"
"Captain, while we Fu Long Practitioners are indeed great beings upholding the state, it's now the Twenty-First Century! The Reform Spring Breeze is blowing everywhere. We should respond to the national call and combat all forms of feudal superstition!" The man with fair skin pouted slightly, seemingly unable to agree with the captain's values.
"Have you run out of things to say?" The captain's anger flared.
"Does higher management know about this operation?" The man continued to press, muttering, "I still have three thousand five hundred and eighty-something days until I can retire. Captain, don’t drag me into this! You’re a lone wolf who fears nothing; I still have a wife and kids!"
"Are you always this chatty?" The captain smacked the back of the man's head. "That’s a dragon we’re talking about! In ancient times, it was a symbol of emperors. How can such a magnificent thing be left to wander outside?"
"But we could participate in the auction!" the man replied in confusion.
"Do you have money?" The captain rolled his eyes. "The funds for our team activities are all used for buying equipment. Who has spare cash to bid on that stuff? It’s ridiculously expensive."
"Besides," he added, "the Ailao Mountain area is under our Dragon King Team Qingming's jurisdiction. Zhan Gui Ren has all priority rights."
"We're only assigned to the Security Bureau; we’re not subordinate to them. Remember that!"
"The Red Dragons are in position!" A crackling sound came through the man's Bluetooth earpiece.
His expression changed slightly as he looked at the captain. "Captain, we have a situation. It seems there are others like us who want to make purchases—Ming Ren warriors—and after observing for a while, Red Dragon found out these people aren’t even from our country!"
"Foreigners?"
The captain squinted his eyes and told the Red Dragon to deal with these outsiders first, then go for the treasure and return what belongs to us. Although we are on different fronts, we are still from the same country; we cannot have infighting in front of outsiders!
"Understood!"
The man’s eyes sparkled as he said, "Captain, do you know how cool you look right now?"
"Cool my foot!"
The captain shook his head and began to explain the Knotting Dragon Formation to me. This technique consumes a lot of mana, and I can't handle it alone!
