In a hidden underground chamber, Xu Gongzi gazed excitedly at the plate before him, which held the Heart, Liver, Spleen, Lung, and Kidney, still steaming with warmth.
"Is this what the Daoist needs for his materials?" Xu Gongzi asked in a low voice.
The Five Elements Fate of the Heart, Liver, Spleen, Lung, and Kidney were essential for refining the Wuzang Miao. With this, Xu Gongzi would surely gain longevity. As for the remaining payment, Zuo Ci merely smiled without saying a word.
"Daoist, you can check; the final payment has just been transferred to your card!" Xu Gongzi said respectfully, bowing his head.
"Then there’s no trouble at all!" Zuo Ci laughed heartily and said, "I ask that Xu Gongzi open the coffin so that Poor Dao can perform a ritual to alter your fate!"
Xu Gongzi had no doubts. In recent days, he had secretly hired a Feng Shui Master from Xiang Jiang Zhi at great expense to set up a Forbidden Corpse Formation to suppress the Shi Sha array. To enhance his own power, he lured young boys and girls with high pay to provide him with blood offerings.
Slowly, Xu Gongzi pushed open the large red coffin before him. Inside lay Xu Hongfa, dressed in a scarlet funeral robe, his complexion pale without a hint of color. His hands were darkened and cold, with nails sharp as knives. Upon closer inspection, a layer of dark green hair covered the surface of Xu Hongfa's palms.
Zuo Ci observed from a distance with some surprise. Xu Hongfa had been alive when he was sacrificed to the Shi Sha; his grudge ran deep. However, as long as he did not consume human flesh, he could not evolve.
It seemed that this Xu Gongzi truly was ambitious; he must have been feeding on living offerings daily. In just seven days, he had transformed into a Mao Jiang—a Green Hair Zombie.
Zombies had a strict hierarchy.
Purple Zombies were akin to walking corpses with purple bodies; they retained some awareness of the living but continuously rotted away. Such zombies could not be defeated even by ordinary people.
White Haired Zombies and Black-Furred Zombies had bodies that appeared white or black respectively, with hair growing in those colors. The white zombies moved sluggishly and were extremely afraid of sunlight, fire, water, chickens, and dogs. Although black zombies possessed immense strength, they too feared flames.
These two types of zombies could be dealt with by ordinary yin-yang practitioners.
The corpse emitted a foul stench, its body a sickly green. It moved with incredible speed, unafraid of humans or livestock, able to walk in sunlight. Resistant to blades and bullets, it was impervious to fire and water, making it nearly impossible for ordinary cultivators to subdue.
The Red-Haired Zombie had crimson hair sprouting from its body, with skin as tough as bronze and iron. It was remarkably resilient, even capable of moonlit cultivation; the higher its cultivation level, the sturdier its body became. Agile in movement, it could leap onto rooftops and trees, soaring through the air without fear of mundane flames or sunlight.
The Flying Demon, also known as the Celestial Yacha, was a millennium-old zombie with wings beneath its ribs. Its surface hair had fallen away, revealing a thick layer of scales. The Flying Demon excelled in spells and was not only physically robust but also immune to most magical damage.
Zuo Ci had never intended to extend Xu Gongzi's life. Upon realizing that Xu Hongfa possessed a fate of great fortune, he contemplated refining Huang Lishi. The Taiping Dao Huang Lishi was a talisman soldier, crafted using secret methods to create talisman beans that could be scattered like soldiers—extremely powerful indeed. This was the classic summoning spell.
Though numerous in number, they were merely cannon fodder when faced with high-level opponents. Every enemy Zuo Ci encountered was a formidable foe. He aimed to refine Xu Hongfa into the first Huang Lishi and store it within the internal space of his Nine-section Staff. If enemies appeared, he could easily perform the hand seals to summon it.
The Celestial Luma Ge Ren harnessed the energy of heaven and earth; if refined into a zombie, it would be extraordinary!
Suddenly, Xu Hongfa's closed pupils snapped open. Upon seeing Xu Gongzi, he revealed a ferocious expression, baring his gleaming white fangs. He reached out with both hands, attempting to seize Xu Gongzi. Unfortunately for him, his limbs were bound by intricately carved steel shackles inscribed with talismanic patterns.
The coffin itself was set within a feng shui corpse-restraining formation, suppressing the corpse's energy within its body and preventing it from unleashing its power.
