Abe Masamune clutched his head as his soul began to merge with the fierce spirit of the Yatengu. Black Malevolent Qi oozed from his nostrils, and his pupils turned a deep crimson. It must be said that his mental fortitude was quite strong, though most of it was dedicated to suppressing the Yatengu. Achieving a delicate balance was no easy feat.
Unbeknownst to him, Zuo Ci's specialty was spells targeting the soul. Xing Qi shattered that balance, resulting in damage to Abe Masamune's spirit. The remnants of the Yatengu's will began to retaliate. Once a subordinate of the Garuda King, the Yatengu had cultivated the Dun Zong method of possession. The backlash from the Shikigami, known as "reverse wind" by Easterners, was a common occurrence. Generally speaking, Shikigami could take various forms. One type was the growth-type Shikigami, which could evolve automatically by lurking and absorbing spiritual energy through its host's growth. However, any damage inflicted upon the host also affected the Shikigami.
However, it can become quite powerful. This type of Shikigami is also the most likely to backfire. Then there are the captured Shikigami. Generally, they are low-level spirits or low-level magical beasts or creatures, which, after being forcibly enhanced and subjected to other treatments, can be used in battle. These Shikigami are completely controlled by their summoner and have no independent combat power; they attack exactly as their summoner commands.
Next are the support-type Shikigami. These Shikigami have little to no offensive capability. However, they can assist their summoner in wielding powers that the summoner cannot use on their own.

"Is that so?" Zuo Ci looked at the increasingly deranged Abe Masamune, no longer caring for him and dropping any pretense.
With a slap to his forehead, Hun Fan emerged prominently. He was not without his own Shikigami. Hun Fan, during the Feng Shen period, belonged to the Tongtian Jiao Master of Jiejiao.
This banner was triangular in shape, with a tail gently fluttering beneath it. It was the ultimate weapon of the Tongtian Jiao Master. During the Fengshen War, the Tongtian Jiao Master set up the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, hoping to turn the tide for Jiejiao with this treasure.
Unfortunately, his disciple Chang Er Ding Guang Xian betrayed Jiejiao, leading to the Tongtian Jiao Master's failure. According to the Tongtian Jiao Master, even a top-tier innate Sage would find it difficult to escape the power of this banner.
After the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation was broken, the Tongtian Jiao Master planned to use Hun Fan against the four great Luo Sages: Laozi, Yuan Shi Tian Zun, Zhun Ti Dao Ren, and Jieyin Dao Ren, along with Jiang Ziya and Zhou Wuwang Ji Fa.
The original text describes it as follows: This banner has a tail on which are inscribed the names of Jieyin Dao Ren, Zhun Ti Dao Ren, Laozi, Yuan Shi, Wu Wang, and Jiang Shang. When all names are honored and this banner is waved on that day, it will take away the lives of those named.
This treasure was the Tongtian Jiao Master's strongest and final trump card; he intended to use it to ambush the four saints and alter the cosmic balance of earth, water, fire, and wind to erase fate itself. Writing a name on Hun Fan would seal that person's fate.
However, Hun Fan was secretly taken away by his traitorous disciple Chang Er Ding Guang Xian and handed over to Yuan Shi Tian Zun's faction, causing the Tongtian Jiao Master's plans to fail.
If it really happens, the consequences are unimaginable.
Hongjun Daoren, upon learning that Tongtian Jiao Master had activated the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation and harbored murderous intent towards Hun Fan, deliberately took him away. He instructed him to take a Self-Destructing Divine Pill along with Laozi and Yuan Shi Tian Zun, each of them consuming one.
