Bang!
Zuo Ci stepped forward, placing his foot on Mao Lei's lifeless head. With a heavy stomp, he crushed it, causing the skull to burst open and yellowish-white matter to splatter everywhere.
Indeed, he was dead.
The Suit Man and the Old Daoist watched Zuo Ci's actions, their hearts pounding with unease. This guy really knows how to kill!
Just when Zuo Ci was caught off guard, Mao Lei's other head suddenly opened its eyes, radiating a crimson glow.
With a pop, the head tore itself apart. Beneath the dry skull, bloodied remnants of flesh dangled, continuously oozing dark purple blood.
Whoosh!
The desiccated head shot out like an arrow, aiming directly at Zuo Ci. The remaining blood vessels and flesh acted like roots, embedding themselves into Zuo Ci's shoulder.
Creak, creak.
The flesh on Zuo Ci's shoulder withered instantly.
Didn’t see that coming, did you?
The dry head grinned and said, "I was born with a constitution of four yin, my soul incomplete. To cultivate, I refined my flesh into the She Tuo Demon Child. It grants me immortality! As long as I consume your essence and occupy your flesh, I could even cultivate to the Tongjing realm in this lifetime! Hahahahaha!"
The Old Daoist felt a cold sweat trickle down his palm. This guy truly was like a centipede; even when cut in half, he wouldn’t die easily.
But finally, that wicked young man was dealt with.
Just as the Old Daoist thought Zuo Ci was doomed, Zuo Ci grinned widely. He was genuinely pleased.
What a remarkable ability! Deeply cunning too; even after I crushed one of his heads, he could still endure. Such a vengeful spirit is perfect for refining the Lu Hun Fan!
Last time I fought Wuchang, I lost my Fate Dao Artifact bowl and was worried about what to use next. And here it is—the artifact has come knocking at my door!
The Liu Hun Fan is indeed terrifying but has its limitations. It can only curse six cultivators and extract their souls to refine into ghosts within the banner. This powerful weapon is meant for life-saving purposes.
The strength of these ghosts is at least at the Dao realm level. These three guys are quite capable; unfortunately, they haven’t cultivated to the Dao Realm yet. They have their own secret techniques that can rival the Dao Realm when unleashed.
But they are merely at the Pseudo Dao Realm!
Zuo Ci didn’t possess many artifacts in hand. The A Jie Drum was currently resting in the land of absolute yin. The only remaining items were the Yinshan Bloodstone given by Guan Jintang to break the ghost borrowing life technique and pursue the Demon King Sect disciples; the Evil Jiao Inverse Bone that exploded during a confrontation; and the Blood Flesh Copper Coin obtained from resolving issues in the Killing Ground.
These items were of decent quality; however, Zuo Ci had yet to find an artifact he excelled at using until tonight when he finally discovered one suitable for himself while browsing ancient texts upstairs.
The Lu Hun Fan, a type of banner-like magical artifact, has always been a favorite among practitioners of Deviant Arts. It is convenient to carry and can be inscribed with magical formations, known as Shen Tong. It possesses both offensive and defensive capabilities, making it an ideal choice for those who roam the world in search of opportunities—though one might say it is also well-suited for more nefarious purposes.
The Lu Hun Fan is an item associated with Evil Practices. When the banner flutters, it can release dark energy to ensnare individuals, specifically targeting those with souls. Anyone who encounters the black smoke finds their soul scattering, hence the name Lu Hun Fan.
Zuo Ci chose this banner as his magical tool precisely because of its ability to disperse souls. The Evil Jiao and Inverse Bone are used to create the Fan Pole, while the Yinshan Bloodstone enhances the power of the Lu Hun Fan and can even be slightly modified. The Yinshan Bloodstone not only has the ability to conceal souls but also allows for the construction of magical formations inscribed with Shen Tong. This is akin to enchanting skills found in games.
He intends to replicate his Zhang Zhong Feng Du within the Lu Hun Fan so that in future confrontations, a gentle shake of the banner could summon a Black Hand for a sudden ambush—an attack so unexpected that even masters of the Dao Realm would find themselves at a disadvantage. Furthermore, the Yinshan Bloodstone has excellent compatibility; any spells inscribed will not conflict with others.
The Blood Flesh Copper Coin possesses certain restraining abilities. He plans to enhance its capabilities by modifying it to create a "Qi Restriction." Among the Seventy-Two Earthly Fiends and Shen Tong, there exists a spell called Qi Jin, characterized by luck as a Curse Technique. With Qi Jin, wounds caused by blades can stop bleeding and heal bones and tendons. When wielded with Qi Jin, one can strike without injury or penetration.
When cultivated to great heights, not only can one become impervious to blades and fire, but they can also restrict Ling Qi, demons, and Chimeras. At this thought, Zuo Ci couldn't help but chuckle. Zhang Zhong Feng Du is also capable of restraining Ling Ti; those Ling Ti trapped within would suffer through eighteen cycles of hellish torment, filled with Yuan Sha's energy.
Many of his spells require Sha Qi to activate. For instance, Zhan Xian Fei Dao could also be inscribed on the Yinshan Bloodstone. By using Zhang Zhong Feng Du to restrain Ling Ti and extract Sha Qi, he could store it in the form of Zhan Xian Fei Dao within the Lu Hun Fan. This would not only significantly increase its lethality but also eliminate any preparatory movements required for casting spells—truly perfect!
"Are you stunned?" Mao Lei sneered.
"No, no!" Zuo Ci shook his head and laughed. "Have you heard of Fei Tou Jiang?"
Mao Lei suddenly felt an ominous premonition rise within him.
"As a practitioner from Southeast Asia, you should be familiar with such summoning techniques," Zuo Ci said with a bright smile. "Would you like to take a look?"
Mao Lei's expression turned fearful as he realized he was losing control over his own head.
"Not yet! Get out?" A voice exploded in his mind.
It was Zuo Ci's voice.
With a sudden burst, Mao Lei's head, still connected by flesh and blood, flew off Zuo Ci's shoulder, its face a deep indigo, pupils vertical, and fangs bared in a menacing snarl. Its target was none other than the Old Daoist who was casting the Ghost Gate Formation.
The Old Daoist cursed under his breath, calling him a fool. How could he always be outsmarted by his enemies? He truly wondered how this guy managed to survive.
"Friend, we haven't attacked you!" the Old Daoist said with a serious expression.
"Oh really?" Zuo Ci chuckled, pointing forward.
At that moment, Mao Lei's head opened its gaping maw and lunged for the Old Daoist's head. The Old Daoist squinted slightly, his murky eyes narrowing. He shouted loudly, "Bind!"
A flicker of black light shone from his palm as he gently slapped it against Mao Lei's head, causing its pupils to dim instantly.
"Is that the Soul Binding Seal?" Zuo Ci laughed. "You must be from Ye Mao Shan, right?"
"All hail the Infinite Celestial!" the Old Daoist replied calmly. "Friend, can we retreat now?"
However, the Suit Man behind him erupted in anger, shouting, "Why waste words with this guy? Curse him!"
"Curses?" Zuo Ci's expression turned peculiar. Did these people really think they could lay a curse in his territory? Did they believe his temper was that easy to provoke?
A Centipede Tattoo appeared on Zuo Ci's face. With crimson mandibles and an azure-black exoskeleton, the grotesque Centipede Tattoo bore a twisted human face.
