Zuo Ci moved a rattan chair and sat down in the lobby of the Yin Yang Building.
Suddenly, an old man draped in a robe adorned with the Yin Yang symbol entered the building, exuding an ethereal aura.
"Great Heaven's Blessing! Young one, do not let trifling matters jeopardize your life and fortune!" the old man chuckled.
Zuo Ci looked at him with interest and replied, "You, old man, practice a side path yet speak of compassion as if you were a celestial master descending from the heavens!"
The old man's expression darkened.
He sneered, "Sharp-tongued brat, have you forgotten about that girl who was with you?"
"Girl?" Zuo Ci's expression froze for a moment.
Suddenly, he remembered Huang Yimeng, the girl he had turned into a Zombie. He hadn't brought her to the Yin Yang Building; instead, he had arranged for her to stay at his only maternal uncle's house.
"How about it? Have you met her?" Zuo Ci asked with a smile.
The old man clapped his hands.
A group of young people dressed in similar robes pushed rusty dog cages into view. Inside them crouched an elderly couple and a dazed young girl.
They were bound with nylon ropes, their mouths taped shut, completely naked.
The elderly couple's eyes were filled with a pleading expression. The young girl was the focal point of attention. Her wrists and mouth were covered with talismans. Her pale skin bore numerous bruises, clearly indicating she had been abused.
Zuo Ci's gaze shifted slightly, yet his smile only widened.
Nearby, Black Cripple, who was hiding from disaster, witnessed this scene. He did not recognize the girl but recognized the middle-aged couple—Zuo Ci's uncle and aunt.
He shook his head as he recalled a trending meme online.
"Xie Baoqing, what did you provoke that bastard Li Yunlong for?" He couldn't help but smile.
He had been worried about whether Cao Juan Ren would contribute, but now it seemed everything was in order.
Zuo Ci looked at the old man with an increasingly strange expression. He felt neither anger nor rage—just indifference. However, Black Cripple understood. Once Cao Juan Ren displayed that kind of gaze, the fate of their enemies could only be described with one phrase: worse than death.
The young brother had some skill and had raised a formidable Shi Sha. For those of us on the fringes, such quality Shi Sha was like a fine Furnace Cauldron; to not use it would indeed be a pity! Lao Shi exclaimed in amazement.
Hehe! Zuo Ci chuckled, extending his palm and gently grasping. A massive hand composed of black Sha Qi rose from the ground, tightly clutching the old man in its grip.
Sha Qi solidifying? The old man was horrified. The soldiers turned pale. The solidification of Sha Qi was a sign of a powerful being.
"Which strong practitioner has taken over your body?" The old man trembled in fear.
"Taken over?" Zuo Ci scratched his head and laughed, "Sorry, I'm just naturally gifted; I stumbled upon it while practicing!"
"Impossible!" The old man looked at Zuo Ci in disbelief.
"See? You still don't believe me!" Zuo Ci lightly flicked his fingers. The giant hand of Sha Qi tightened even more, producing creaking sounds—the sound of bones breaking.
"No, spare me!" The old man let out a heart-wrenching cry.
"Alright!" Zuo Ci waved his sleeve, and Sha Qi's massive hand dissipated.
The old man lay on the ground, his limbs twisted, resembling an aged dog nearing its end.
"Do you want to live?" Zuo Ci smiled at the other soldiers.
"Immortal, we want to live!" they exclaimed. "The living immortal, the living Bodhisattva, it’s this old coffin that has forced us to do bad things!"
"Yes, yes! We were all coerced!" Several soldiers immediately knelt down.
"Want to live? Then each of you must chop off this Old Guy's limbs. Remember, he must still be alive afterward; otherwise, you will surely die!" Zuo Ci laughed.
The soldiers exchanged glances, seeing the desire to survive reflected in each other's eyes. They gritted their teeth and pulled out trembling daggers from their sleeves.
"How dare you?" Lao Shi shouted angrily.
"A featherless phoenix is no better than a chicken. You think this Old Bastard has it easy today?" one soldier scoffed.
With that, he raised his knife and severed Lao Shi's left hand. After chopping off the arm, he took out a packet of hemostatic powder from his waist and applied it to Lao Shi's severed limb. Then he looked at Zuo Ci and said, "Those three guys have all violated the Immortal's sister. I haven’t, and those three volunteered to ascend; I was forced!"
"Oh?" Zuo Ci raised an eyebrow, signaling him to continue.
"This Old Guy is actually a remnant of Huang Lao. His elder brother was one of Huang Lao's subordinates. Huang Lao Zhu practiced the Yin-Yang technique and Furnace Technique. My wife and sister were both defiled by this Old Guy. He even tried to lay his hands on my five-year-old daughter. I wish I could eat his flesh and gnaw on his bones. Immortal, I am willing to offer my loyalty!"
With that, the soldier ignored the curses from the others and once again raised his knife, chopping off all of Lao Shi's limbs.
Then, he evenly applied the hemostatic powder to the wound.
Looking at the soldier covered in blood, Zuo Ci's eyes lit up. This level of ruthlessness reminded him of his own past prowess. Lao Shi had lost too much blood; he was only exhaling, with no breath coming in. If it weren't for his cultivation, he would have been dead long ago.
The remaining soldiers, realizing their predicament, began to contemplate their escape. "Black Cripple, those three scoundrels are yours!" Zuo Ci said with a smile as he looked at Black Cripple.
"Heh heh, just in time to feed my big treasure!" Black Cripple grinned ominously. The three soldiers immediately scattered in an attempt to flee. Unfortunately, they hadn’t gotten far before Black Cripple caught them again.
Zuo Ci stood up and placed a foot on Lao Shi's face. He squinted and smiled, "Don't worry, I, Zuo Ci, am known for my kindness and mercy. Bodhisattva Heart! I won’t let you die!"
He took out a dark cyan pill and stuffed it into Lao Shi's mouth. Black Cripple watched the pill, his eyelid twitching involuntarily. This was the San Yin Huan Hun Dan. Consuming it would increase karma and its consequences. Only those on the brink of death would take it.
Taking the San Yin Huan Hun Dan would turn one's three souls into shadowy spirits. Although it could prolong life...
