"Alright, as long as you're fine. By the way, how did your last blind date go?" Aunt Sangyu introduced a match for Sang Yu a while ago, saying he had just returned from studying abroad and came from a well-off family.
Mentioning this made Sang Yu feel a bit frustrated. It seemed like her relatives and friends were so worried she wouldn't get married that they were overly eager to set her up. She was doing just fine, but now she didn't even dare to answer their calls.
Talking about that blind date only added to Sang Yu's annoyance. She had never met such a peculiar person before. "Don't even mention it; we only met once, and there was no contact afterward. To be precise, he reached out to me, but I didn't respond."
That guy was truly odd, speaking in an exaggerated accent as if he wanted everyone to know he had studied abroad. He acted superior, looking down on us locals. When we went out to eat, he insisted on splitting the bill, and we barely spent two hundred yuan. He also said women should be independent, even after marriage. "Who would want to marry him? He can just go off by himself!" After leaving the restaurant, she deleted his contact information.
"Haha, I can't believe there are still such oddballs around," Lin Yue laughed.
"Yeah, there are plenty of weirdos these days." Sang Yu sighed. She had thought about her relatives setting her up a few times; maybe it was just her luck that she kept running into strange men.
"Enough about me; what about you and that dentist downstairs?"
Lin Yue had recently gone to the dental clinic for a tooth extraction and had developed a crush on the dentist. "I'm making my moves," she said confidently.
"Oh! Speaking of which, I'm feeling pretty hopeless about Doctor Sheng. I've tried every trick I found online for pursuing someone, but that man is just unyielding."
"Ugh! If you push her too hard, she might just fall for you," Lin Yue joked before leaving.
Now alone on the sofa, Sang Yu reflected on her conversation with Lin Yue.
"Sang Sang, do you still like him?" Lin Yue had asked earlier.
"Do I like him? I'm not sure," Sang Yu replied. It seemed like she did; liking him had become a habit for her. At the very least, she couldn't treat him indifferently like she did with others.
"You still have feelings for him, don't you?" Lin Yue knew Sang Yu better than anyone else besides Sang's father and Sang Yu herself.
Sang Yu could be quite stubborn at times—especially regarding Lu Jing. Even though she hadn't said anything, it was clear she hadn't moved on. Lin Yue felt frustrated but mostly concerned for her friend.
"Are you really that foolish? After everything Lu Jing put you through, how can you still like him? There are plenty of other men out there; why hang onto this one?"
Thinking of the pain Sang Yu endured made Lin Yue feel it wasn't worth it. Was Lu Jing really that great?
"Yue Yue," Sang Yu said softly, "I honestly don't know if I still like him or not. It's been so long; it's not like no one has pursued me since then, but I just can't accept them. I can't control my feelings."
Lin Yue felt bad seeing Sang Yu in this state; she understood how much Sang Yu had suffered because of Lu Jing.
However, looking at Lu Jing now, there seemed to be hope for them after all.
"Sang Sang, follow your heart and don't let yourself suffer again." She hated the thought of Sang Yu getting hurt once more. Seeing Lu Jing's current demeanor didn't seem like he was indifferent toward Sang Yu at all; perhaps all of her friend's persistence wasn't in vain after all.
At noon, Sang Yu didn't feel like cooking for herself, so she ordered takeout online. She got a generous portion of tomato chicken rice noodles that filled her up completely.
Today was Zhou Tian, and she didn't have to work. After finishing her lunch, Sang Yu planned to take a nap. She had taken a painkiller earlier, and her headache had improved significantly. It seemed she really couldn't drink alcohol anymore; the hangover felt just too unbearable.
