Lin Xi stared intently at the man in black before her, her fingers tightening slightly around the gun. Though his face was unfamiliar, the coldness and insight in his gaze sent a shiver down her spine. 0

"Who are you?" Lin Xi asked coldly, striving to maintain her composure. 0

The man in black did not answer directly; instead, he slightly raised the corner of his mouth, as if amused by her question. He slowly extended a hand, revealing a faintly glowing symbol in his palm, identical to the pattern of the Black Crystal they had destroyed in the laboratory. 0

"The Abyss is not a place, but a choice," his voice was low and icy, echoing directly in Lin Xi's mind. "You have destroyed one node, but that is merely the tip of the iceberg. The true Abyss lies here." 0

Lin Xi focused on the symbol in his palm, alarm bells ringing in her mind. She quickly assessed that this man was no ordinary person, yet his tone felt like he was testing her. 0

"The Abyss is your choice, but I choose to resist." Lin Xi declared as she aimed her gun at his chest. "Answer me, or go to hell." 0

The man seemed unfazed by the gun's muzzle. With a gentle wave of his hand, Lin Xi felt a powerful force surge from all around her, suppressing her movements completely. It was as if invisible chains bound her body, making it nearly impossible to even twitch a finger. 0

"Don't be hasty, Captain Lin," he said calmly. "Don't you want to know the truth? Do you think destroying a few nodes will stop the spread of the rift? How laughable; the rift exists for you." 0

"What?" Lin Xi growled through clenched teeth as she struggled against her restraints, but the force was overwhelmingly despairing. 0

A glimmer of cruel mockery shone in the man's eyes. "The rift was opened by humanity itself, and you are merely pawns pushed onto the chessboard. The existence of each node is meant to escalate this game." 0

"Who controls this game?" Lin Xi demanded. 0

The man paused for a moment, his smile deepening. "When you find the final node, perhaps you'll know the answer. But be careful; by then, you may no longer distinguish friend from foe." 0

As soon as he finished speaking, his figure suddenly blurred, merging into the surrounding darkness. He left behind one last phrase that echoed in Lin Xi's mind: "Remember, the Abyss gazes back at you, and you are becoming part of it." 0

Meanwhile, the situation for the other team members was equally perilous. 0

Zhou Zheng continued to wander through the mist, the whispers around him growing increasingly clear. The voices seemed to come from different directions yet conveyed a singular message: "Do not trust them; do not trust her." 0

"Who?" Zhou Zheng spun around suddenly but saw nothing. He felt his nerves stretched to their limits as if something were eroding his sanity. 0

Suddenly, a familiar figure emerged from the mist. It was Lin Xi, approaching him step by step with a serious and indifferent expression. 0

"Leader Lin?" Zhou Zheng asked cautiously, gripping his weapon tightly. 0

Lin Xi did not respond; she merely continued to advance slowly, an indescribable chill emanating from her gaze. 0

"Leader Lin, is that you?" Zhou Zheng asked again, his instincts urging him not to act rashly. 0

Just as Lin Xi was only a few steps away from him, she suddenly stopped and revealed a strange smile at the corner of her mouth. 0
