Cui Pan looked seriously at Hei Jiao. "Are you really going to participate in the Dragon Contest?"
"Yes, I've already chosen my person," Hei Jiao replied without hesitation.
Cui Pan frowned, a hint of apprehension in his eyes. "I'm afraid you might get entangled in karma."
Hei Jiao was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head. "As long as my strength is sufficient, I won't fear any karma."
Cui Pan stared at Hei Jiao in shock. He had heard someone say the same thing before, but that person was a sage.
The Black Mountain Old Demon interjected, "Forget about that, brother. Just tell us what you need us to do."
Hei Jiao scanned the capital with his spiritual sense and frowned when he realized that the Third Prince was not in the city. He wondered when he had escaped.
"The capital can't be too chaotic for now. You all should head back. I'll handle the rest," Hei Jiao decided after some thought.
The Black Mountain Old Demon had no objections. The two from Difu, Lu Pan and Cui Pan, nodded and left.
In the Lord's Mansion, Qi Zhu was with Huang Xu. They had already seen the dragon soaring through the vast sky.
"Seventh Sister, let's go! If we don't leave now, it will be too late!" Huang Xu said, panic written all over his face.
Qi Zhu let out a bitter laugh. "Where can we go? Do we still have a place to go?"
Huang Xu quickly replied, "We should find our aunt! She won't abandon us."
Qi Zhu shook her head helplessly. "Aunt has already left ahead of time. She did send someone to notify me, but how could I leave you behind? You hadn't even come out of the palace then."
Huang Xu froze for a moment and then said regretfully, "Seventh Sister, it's my fault for dragging you into this."
Qi Zhu took a deep breath and suddenly muttered, "If we die, we die; maybe we can go back afterward."
"What did you say?" Huang Xu asked in confusion, not having heard her clearly.
Qi Zhu snapped back to reality and shook her head. "It's nothing."
Just then, Huang Xu suddenly shouted, "Ah! He's coming towards us!"
Qi Zhu was startled and quickly looked up to see Hei Jiao landing right in front of them.
Huang Xu immediately stepped in front of Qi Zhu. "What do you want? Don't think about hurting my Seventh Sister!"
Hei Jiao paused for a moment, looking at the two with an odd expression before realizing that he was indeed Hei Jiao and felt reassured.
"I am a friend of Qin Feng," Hei Jiao said.
"What?" Qi Zhu and Huang Xu were momentarily stunned.
Huang Xu stammered, "Really? You are a friend of Brother Qin?"
Qi Zhu also stood up, looking at Hei Jiao with curiosity.
Hei Jiao replied, "Do you think I would need to lie to you?"
Huang Xu was taken aback and nodded. "That's true. With your strength, you could easily kill us."
He quickly added, "But we are also friends of Brother Qin. You can't kill us."
Hei Jiao smiled slightly. "I know. I have my reasons for seeking you out."
Huang Xu felt a surge of relief.
Hei Jiao's gaze turned to Qi Zhu.
Though Qi Zhu still felt a bit uneasy, she stepped forward and asked, "What is it?"
"I want you to take over the palace and become the Empress," Hei Jiao stated, enunciating each word clearly.
The two gasped in disbelief, looking at Hei Jiao as if she had lost her mind. "Is there really such an opportunity?"
Qi Zhu was not an ancient person; she wasn't that eager for the throne. She asked cautiously, "Why me? What is your goal?"
Hei Jiao smiled slightly. This was also the reason she had chosen her: temporarily making her the Empress would prevent chaos in the capital.
Of course, this was only temporary. When Qin Feng entered the capital, you would have to willingly abdicate, Hei Jiao said solemnly.
