Qin Feng looked up and saw several figures in black on the opposite rooftop. His expression turned cold. "Lao Hu, it's up to you."
"Yes, Young Master." Old Fox's eyes glinted with a fierce light; he had already discerned that those individuals were not particularly formidable, resembling trained assassins.
In a flash, Old Fox appeared on the opposite rooftop, swiftly dispatching the black-clad figures without any resistance.
Qin Feng narrowed his eyes, pondering who might want him dead. It couldn't be the Second Prince; after all, they had just met and there hadn't been time for any preparations. As for the Third Prince, that was unlikely as well—he had already registered with the old emperor and should not have any reason to kill him. Qi Gong was even less likely; he had been in contact with Nie Rongzheng.
Furrowing his brow, Qin Feng struggled to figure out who was behind this trouble.
At that moment, Old Fox returned. "Young Master, I've dealt with them. There were no survivors; they were indeed assassins."
Old Fox spoke respectfully.
Qin Feng nodded. "Then let's go." He stepped forward and continued walking down the street.
Guan Mama appeared beside the slain black-clad figures and examined them closely but found nothing of note. She too felt puzzled about who would target Qin Feng.
Meanwhile, the Second Prince received news of Qin Feng's assassination attempt and paused for a moment. Then he sneered, "What a bunch of useless fools! How could they fail to kill him?" His thoughts turned dark; he harbored intentions to eliminate Qin Feng, reflecting his vengeful nature.
After that, nothing else happened, and they arrived safely at Qin Mansion. Although there were a few tails following them, Qin Feng paid them no mind.
He sat in the pavilion, seemingly waiting for something.
Zhang Gong Fu and Guan Mama relayed the news of Qin Feng's assassination attempt.
The Eldest Prince exploded with rage. "Damn it, who is it? Do they want to die?"
"Your Highness," Guan Mama quickly replied, "I checked, and I couldn't find out whose person it is."
The Eldest Prince sneered, "Would someone capable of such a thing allow you to discover them?"
"Come here," he said coldly.
In a flash, a woman appeared below, kneeling on one knee. "Your Highness."
"What unusual movements are happening in the palace?" the Eldest Prince asked.
"Everything else seems normal, but the Empress has been heartbroken over your injuries and has been in frequent contact with the Zhen Guo Duke's residence," Guan Mama reported.
Suddenly, a thought struck her, and her expression changed. "Your Highness, do you suspect—"
The Eldest Prince interrupted her with a cold laugh. "The one who died at the Qin Mansion. If the Empress can't find the demon, who will she seek revenge on?"
Guan Mama was taken aback; indeed, Qin Feng could be a target for her wrath.
"But there’s no evidence, right?" Guan Mama hesitated.
"Hmph, she definitely won't let this failure go. She will make a move tonight," the Eldest Prince said coldly.
"Guan Mama, you should go protect Feng Er. I'll handle things with the Empress." A murderous intent flashed in the Eldest Prince's eyes.
Guan Mama was startled. "Your Highness, are you planning to take action against the Empress?"
She glanced at the Eldest Prince, realizing she couldn't stop him, and withdrew.
At the Qin Mansion, Qin Feng spoke lightly. "So, who is behind this?"
Guan Mama appeared in the pavilion and looked at Qin Feng with astonishment in her eyes. How did he know she had met with the Eldest Prince?
After hesitating for a moment, she finally spoke. "Your Highness suspects it might be the Empress. But that's just speculation; it hasn't been confirmed."
Qin Feng was taken aback. "The Empress? The Eldest Prince?" He quickly connected the dots; indeed, the Empress had reasons to target him.
