The man was taken aback and hurriedly withdrew his foot, admitting, "Yes, it's my fault."
Qin Feng shook his head and stepped forward to stand in front of Lao Niu, looking into its eyes. He suddenly spoke slowly, "You want to save his family, don't you?"
The onlookers were astonished by this scene and then collectively shook their heads, thinking he was a fool for talking to a cow. To their surprise, Lao Niu suddenly turned its head to look at Qin Feng and gently nodded.
Wow, has this cow become sentient? It can actually nod?
It should be fine; after all, monsters can't enter the city.
People took a step back, staring in shock at Lao Niu. The man fell to the ground in disbelief; the cow could understand human speech. Fear gripped him, making him even less willing to proceed.
Qin Feng smiled slightly, feeling as if he had stumbled upon a treasure. This Lao Niu already possessed some intelligence, though it was still far from becoming fully sentient.
"Then let's go. Take me to his home; I will deal with that Gui Wu myself."
Upon hearing this, Lao Niu's eyes widened in surprise. It quickly stood up and turned to leave.
Qin Feng followed closely behind.
"Hey, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and follow! It seems like there's something dirty in your house!" someone shouted at the still-dazed man. Startled by the comment, the man scrambled to his feet and chased after them.
"Let's go see too."
This is so strange! Is what that book said true? Are there really ghosts?
Who knows? We’ll find out when we get there.
That book seems to be from Qin Xiucai; a scholar like him shouldn't be lying, right?
So what are we waiting for? Let’s go!
Several brave souls followed along, while the timid ones stayed behind; after all, it was about ghosts—who wouldn't be afraid?
Qin Feng followed Lao Niu out of the city. After a short walk, they arrived at a village. The man was panting as he caught up; Lao Niu was anxious and moving quickly, so Qin Feng easily kept pace.
The man was clearly exhausted, sweat pouring down his face as he caught up.
His complexion was pale as he stammered, "Is there really something dirty in my house?"
Qin Feng replied calmly, "Why not take a look and find out? Animals have spirits; they are very sensitive to such things."
Upon hearing this, the man's face turned even whiter. He suddenly recalled the events of the past few nights, which was also the reason he wanted to sell Lao Niu.
Qin Feng didn't say much more. Lao Niu didn't slow down; instead, it rushed even faster toward the village.
Qin Feng followed Lao Niu into a small farmhouse. Although the main door was wide open, the yard was empty. Lao Niu stood in the yard, mooing incessantly at the house ahead, wanting to rush inside but hesitating.
The man entered as well and called out, "Child's Mother!" He repeated it three times, but there was no response.
Now the man panicked and hurried toward the house.
Qin Feng surveyed the surroundings. Even though it was daytime, he could still sense a chill in the air around the yard.
Suddenly, a loud shout came from inside the house.
Lao Niu quickly turned to look at Qin Feng, its eyes filled with urgency as it anxiously mooed.
Qin Feng nodded and said, "I'll go take a look."
With that, he stepped forward and swiftly entered the house. As soon as he stepped inside, Qin Feng felt a drop in temperature of several degrees compared to outside.
He immediately spotted a little boy lying on the bed, with a woman crouched beside him. Both of their faces were slightly blue, and their lips were purple.
