The chattering girl who used to fill the room with her lively presence had not returned, leaving the space suddenly cold and empty.
Rofeide lay back in his territory, which he had lost for many days, but he could not find peace in sleep.
He should have been pleased with the quiet, yet he felt anything but happy. His gaze fell on the pink mug left behind by the lady of the house, and fragments of memories pierced through his mind.
“Rofeide, look! My new mug matches yours perfectly, hehe.”
“Rofeide, I want to drink mixed fruit juice. Can you make some for me? Please? I’ll give you a kiss as a reward… Hey, why are you running away? Don’t be shy…”
“Rofeide, you’re so warm. It’s so comfortable sleeping next to you.”
“Rofeide…”
“Rofeide…”
Many scattered memories pieced together a complete picture of Jing Tingting—her smile, her capriciousness, her domineering nature—all clearly told him one undeniable truth.
He had fallen in love with her. Just when he hadn’t even realized his feelings for her, she had left.
He admitted that he was proud; when he learned that she had deceived him into intimacy, he was furious and said hurtful things without thinking.
Damn it, what had he said to her? He accused her of being shameless for using her body to get close to him—how could he have said such cruel words?
Frustrated, Rofeide wanted to find Jing Tingting but realized he didn’t even have her phone number.
Would his life never intersect with hers again? The dread of this thought made Rofeide feel inexplicably anxious.
He opened the refrigerator and found a lunchbox with a note attached.
“This is something I learned from Sister Wan Tong. Rofeide, I hope you’ll give it a try. Remember to heat it up before eating!” A smiley face followed the message, completely in Jing Tingting’s style.
Rofeide opened the lunchbox; although the appearance of the fried sauce noodles was somewhat unappealing, the taste was not bad. Yet, he couldn’t shake off a hint of bitterness that lingered.
"That silly girl..."
He really wanted to see her, so much so. Was it because he had grown too accustomed to her presence that he took everything for granted? Those little details he had never paid attention to were actually so warm; he was truly a man who didn’t know how to cherish what he had.
No, he couldn't stay calm; he wanted to see her! Now! Immediately! Rofeide put on his coat, preparing to head back to the office to go through employee files, or maybe just grab someone working late and ask them.
If he didn’t try to do something, he simply couldn’t stay at home quietly. Just as he opened the door, he spotted a petite figure squatting by the entrance.
Jing Tingting looked up at Rofeide and awkwardly said, "Rofeide, just pretend I was wrong, okay? I promise I’ll let you know before I strip you next time." She looked like she was about to cry.
"What kind of girl talks about stripping?"
"Don't you want to strip me?" she asked earnestly.
"..." There was no time for further thought as he pulled her into his arms. "Can we discuss this back in the room?"
"Rofeide, are you still angry?"
"Yes, I'm very angry. So as punishment for you, tonight you know what that means! I won’t let you sleep!"
When Jing Tingting woke up, she found herself peacefully nestled in the arms of the person she liked, instantly filled with happiness.
She didn't know how long she had been watching him until Rofeide woke up and gazed at her with sleepy eyes, causing her face to flush bright red.
In the past, she would never have felt this nervous. Now, locking eyes with Rofeide left her flustered; she simply turned away, exposing her bare back in response to his gaze.
"What are you shy about?" Rofeide turned her towards him and gently kissed her lips.
"I'm not shy!" As she said this, she paradoxically avoided his gaze.
"Oh?" This wasn’t like Queen’s style. Was Queen’s usual nonchalance all an act? He lightly bit her earlobe and spoke in a deep voice that could almost drown someone, "Then should we do it again?"
"Hmph, no!"
"What does Her Majesty want?"
"I want..." Jing Tingting pounced onto him, pressing all her weight against him. "I want to be Rofeide's bride. If you do not submit to me, do you know what will happen to you?"
Rofeide felt a growing pain in his lower abdomen and replied hoarsely, "You little sprite, you really know how to torment people."
"I want your answer! Now!"
Sigh, Her Majesty's command is above all else; could he not obey?
"Yes, I comply."
Jing Zheng had been inquiring about his daughter's recent situation with his son. When he learned that his daughter was dating a male colleague, he immediately flew into a rage.
"Who does he think he is to pursue our daughter? He is not worthy!" A torrent of complaints poured out towards his son on the other end of the line. Clearly, his son could not stand the nagging and abruptly hung up with a loud "bang."
Fortunately, his daughter finally called to tell him she was coming home, and he was so overjoyed that he lost track of directions. But just before hanging up, his precious daughter mentioned she would be bringing her boyfriend home! He felt an unprecedented sense of crisis: "My daughter is going to be taken away!"
Unable to contain his anger, he rushed to the study to grab a feather duster, determined to put that man in his place!
The old butler opened the door to welcome guests, and as Jing Zheng prepared to swing the feather duster at the man outside, he was met with Rofeide's elegantly composed face, causing the feather duster to drop from his hands.
"Hello, Uncle." The refined Rofeide smiled like a gentle spring breeze.
And it was that very breeze that awakened the old man of the Jing family.
"Isn't this the..."
"Young Master Rofeide!"
Weren't they not getting along? How did they suddenly end up together?
It made her father give up hope on this marriage, as he was out looking for suitors for his daughter. Little did he expect that today his daughter would bring home the young master! It must be fate, everything is fate!
Her father was very pleased with his future son-in-law, and Rofeide was equally pleased with his father-in-law's approval. However, Her Majesty seemed less than satisfied.
"I absolutely refuse to marry Rofeide!"
"What?!" Both Rofeide and father Jing exclaimed in unison.
"Because Rofeide hasn't even said he likes me!"
After a few seconds of silence, Rofeide patted his father-in-law's shoulder and said, "Uncle, can we set the wedding for the second half of the year? I have a project coming up and might be too busy..."
"Alright, son-in-law, it's up to you."
"Hey, how can you ignore me! I said I do not want to marry him!"
Did they all think her angry shouts were just a joke?!
"You two have already taken it to the next level; if you don't get married, how can you face your readers?" Rofeide and father Jing shouted back in unison, causing Miss Jing to retreat under the covers, too embarrassed to face anyone.
"Don't say such things out loud, you idiot!"
