At 9:30 PM, the dim streetlights cast a warm glow on the streets near the entrance of No. 13 Middle School. Food stalls lined up one after another, steaming with delicious aromas that wafted through the air. The vendors' shouts, the laughter of students, and the sizzling sounds of fried food intertwined, creating a lively scene reminiscent of a bustling market. 0

Amidst this vibrant atmosphere, some parents appeared slightly anxious, their eyes fixed intently on their children. To prevent any mishaps, they had been tirelessly escorting their kids to and from school during these recent nights. 0

In contrast to this warm yet tense ambiance, the workers at the food stalls continued to toil away, their faces etched with the pressures of life as they braved the cold night. 0

“Have you spotted Lu Mingyu or Zhou Xingshu?” Yan Qing lowered his binoculars, his brow furrowed as he turned to Jiang Ming beside him. 0

Yan Qing was usually calm and rational, but at this moment, a hint of urgency flickered in his eyes. His sharply defined features were marked by a strong desire to locate their targets. 0

Jiang Ming was scanning the area around the school gate with his binoculars, his gaze focused and serious, missing no potential figure. 0

With a prominent nose and slightly pursed lips, Jiang Ming was wholly absorbed in his search. 0

“The evening study session ends at 9:20. According to high school students' usual habits, they typically flee this hellish place within ten minutes. Now it's 9:30, and there are hardly any students coming out of the school gate—only a few stragglers,” Jiang Ming murmured as he continued to observe. 0

From the beginning of dismissal until now, they had been watching the school gate like cheetahs stalking their prey; however, they had yet to spot Lu Mingyu or Zhou Xingshu from the photographs they had. 0

“I haven’t seen Lu Mingyu or Zhou Xingshu over here. Have you heard anything on your end?” Jiang Ming replied, disappointment tinging his voice. 0

Yan Qing gently took the binoculars from Jiang Ming’s eyes. As Jiang Ming felt the movement away from his face, confusion filled his gaze. “What are you doing? Aren't we looking for them?” 0

He asked in bewilderment, his clear eyes reflecting his uncertainty. 0

Yan Qing shook his index finger lightly. “No, we need to change our location. We won’t find them at their school gate.” 0

His tone was firm and left no room for doubt, determination flashing in his eyes. 0

Jiang Ming tilted his head. “Hmm?” 0

Though he felt some confusion, he chose to trust Yan Qing's judgment. 0

Five minutes later, the two arrived at the back gate of No. 13 Middle School. 0

The back gate had always been closed, surrounded by silence that starkly contrasted with the bustling front entrance. 0

The school was generally closed except for celebrations and opening ceremonies, and the back gate had rarely been visited. The main gate remained tightly shut, with rusty chains wrapped around it, as if narrating the desolation of this place. 0

The area around the back gate was quite deserted, with magnolia trees planted along the walls surrounding No. 13 Middle School. In the winter months of late October and early November, the magnolia trees stood withered and thin, most branches appearing frail and lifeless. 0

Only a few other branches were taller and more robust, their lush leaves obscuring half of the wall, creating what seemed to be a hidden spot in this barren land. 0

The ground here was covered in fallen leaves and debris, while the walls bore marks left by students who had once climbed over. Although the school had made efforts to raise the height of the wall by half a meter, it remained an insignificant barrier for those students with Psychic Abilities. 0

Jiang Ming and Yan Qing stood poised atop this wall, which soared over three meters high, like two eagles ready to take flight. 0

Their gazes were sharp as hawks, scanning the rows of trees below that stood like loyal sentinels. The cold wind rustled through the branches, whispering secrets to them. 0

Jiang Ming's expression grew serious as he carefully surveyed his surroundings. He slowly crouched down, placing his right hand gently on the ground to begin detecting fluctuations with his Psychic Ability. He focused intently, beads of sweat forming on his forehead as his Psychic Ability spread from his palm like invisible threads permeating outward. 0

After a moment, Jiang Ming frowned slightly; there was nothing unusual here. He saw no sign of Lu Mingyu or Zhou Xingshu, nor could he detect even a hint of Psychic Ability fluctuations. He gradually withdrew his hand from the ground, and as he did so, the probing wave of Psychic Ability dissipated like a receding tide. 0

Seeing this, Yan Qing shook his head lightly and said softly, "Let's go over there." With that, he gracefully jumped down from the wall. In mid-air, he resembled a nimble bird, timing his leap perfectly towards the nearest tall tree. 0

Yan Qing landed steadily on a branch, instantly blending into the dense foliage as if he were part of the night itself. 0

Witnessing this, Jiang Ming wasted no time and quickly followed suit with his agile movements. 0

Jiang Ming took a deep breath, his legs propelling him forward like an arrow released from a bow, leaping toward the direction where Yan Qing was. His movements were swift and precise, and in an instant, he was beside Yan Qing. 0

However, the trunks of the trees were close together, and as Jiang Ming stepped onto a branch, he was caught off guard by inertia, causing him to lurch uncontrollably forward. 0

With a thud, he collided against Yan Qing. 0

Jiang Ming's eyes widened in shock, panic flooding his face as his hands instinctively scrambled against Yan Qing's chest in an attempt to regain his balance. 0

The sudden contact left both of them momentarily stunned. Jiang Ming's face turned beet red as he hurriedly pulled his hands away, his gaze flitting nervously to Yan Qing as he stammered an apology, "I... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." 0

Yan Qing's heart raced unexpectedly. He struggled to keep his voice steady, "It's fine." 0

Yet, as he turned his head away, a faint blush crept across his face under the dim moonlight—a subtle change that did not escape Jiang Ming's keen eyes, unaffected by the darkness. 0

In that moment, the atmosphere between them shifted into an awkward yet intimate tension, as if an invisible current flowed between them. 0

With little room beneath them, Jiang Ming reluctantly placed both hands on either side of Yan Qing's body, pressing closely against him to avoid falling. 0

Their body temperatures rose rapidly in this close contact, and they could feel each other's quickened breaths. 0

Just then, faint sounds emerged not far beneath them—like whispers of conversation or the rustling of grass in the wind—shattering the heartbeat-quickening ambiance. 0
