Jiang Wenyu slowly crouched down, her slender fingers gently brushing against the withered arms. In an instant, her Psychic Ability activated, and she furrowed her brows, her expression growing serious.
"Based on my preliminary assessment, the level of this Psychic Ability is at least S-rank. According to the information on the top criminal leader of the Deep Sea Sprite, Klick, he primarily uses Water Ability as an Ability User."
Drui Feng crossed his arms, a puzzled look on his face as he shook his head in confusion.
"It doesn't make sense. Klick is the leader of the Deep Sea Sprite; why would he harm his own subordinates? Draining their Psychic Abilities and leaving them in such a miserable state—doesn't he see them as human?"
Jiang Wenyu gently shook her head, her delicate brows knitting together. "I don't know why he would do this either. It could be related to personal reasons. We've set up defenses in the sky and around the sea; it's difficult for them to escape. It's also possible that he drained his teammates' Psychic Abilities to secure his own escape from this area."
Drui Feng gasped, disbelief etched on his face.
"No way! This guy is so ruthless, and these people still dare to serve him? You all really met a terrible fate."
Drui Feng lightly kicked one of the fallen corpses with his toe, a rare glimmer of sympathy in his eyes.
Yan Qing turned back, her gaze meeting Jiang Ming's once more. In her eyes was a mix of questioning, confusion, and a hint of expectation.
He quietly awaited Jiang Ming's next words.
Jiang Ming remained silent; the air felt thick and tense, making the atmosphere increasingly awkward.
He stroked his chin thoughtfully and said, "When I entered earlier, these subordinates were still here. Although they were down, they were merely unconscious and hadn't yet turned into corpses. I tracked Klick's presence and sensed his Psychic Ability fluctuating from the throne. I went through a hidden door behind that throne but found no trace of him, so I returned and happened to run into you all."
"What? There's a hidden door behind the throne?"
Drui Feng suddenly popped up between them, his eyes wide with surprise.
Sensing that the atmosphere was off, Jiang Wenyu helplessly grabbed Drui Feng by the collar at the back of his neck and pulled him out of their tense circle.
Yan Qing looked at Jiang Ming, his voice low and magnetic as he spoke, "Is this really what you did? These people... are the immediate results of a water wash. If you are pursuing Klick, then who activated this Psychic Ability? Or is there a third party beneath the surface, aside from us from the Pacific Base and the Deep Sea Sprite?"
Jiang Ming awkwardly shook his head, his expression somewhat flustered. "I don't know; maybe there could be."
Yan Qing fixed his penetrating gaze on Jiang Ming for a long moment before finally retracting his eyes. He then activated the recorder on his wrist, carefully documenting and uploading the scene before him.
Just as the four of them had been there for less than three minutes, Jing Chen and a group of Pacific Base personnel rushed in.
As they pushed open the door, they were met with the sight of numerous dry corpses and the four standing nearby. The onlookers who had come to investigate were momentarily stunned, their expressions growing increasingly strange as they gazed at the four. Even if these were criminals from the Pacific Ocean, there was no need to resort to such brutal methods against them.
Jing Chen was the first to speak, his tone steady and serious. "What happened here? Did you do this?"
Drui Feng quickly waved his hands, looking aggrieved and dissatisfied. "Are you blind? How could this be our doing? Our team doesn't have any Water Ability users. This was done by Klick; such ruthless and unique methods are not something we could pull off."
Upon hearing Drui Feng's explanation, the crowd exchanged glances, pondering for a moment. Indeed, he had a point; according to the shared data, there were no Water Ability users among their team, and such tactics did not seem like something personnel from their Pacific Base could execute.
One person stepped forward first, his expression serious as he fixed his gaze on the four-member team. "Since your team arrived first, did you find any traces of Klick or any clues here?"
Yan Qing slightly turned his head, pointing in a certain direction with a cold and firm voice. "We found a hidden door over there."
Upon hearing this, Jing Chen propped one hand on his waist while stroking his chin in thought. He narrowed his eyes slightly, a glimmer of contemplation flashing within them.
After a moment, he decisively issued orders. "Giant Crocodile, go check it out."
A burly man stepped forward; he was Giant Crocodile, possessing the crocodile Psychic Ability. In an instant, he shimmered with light and transformed back into his original form—a fierce and powerful crocodile appeared before everyone. The crocodile's eyes gleamed with ferocity and determination as it listened to Jing Chen's command and swiftly made its way toward the throne.
As it approached the throne, Giant Crocodile's eyes suddenly filled with green light that seemed to possess penetrating power, scanning up and down around the throne. Then it placed its massive claw on the left side of the throne where a Water Pearl was decorated and gently turned it.
A dull sound suddenly emanated from behind the throne, and then it slowly began to rotate open.
A door over two meters tall appeared before everyone, exuding an air of mystery as if it were whispering untold secrets.
All eyes were drawn to this door, filled with curiosity and caution.
Voices erupted among the crowd, their tones laced with surprise and awe. "I never expected that Klick would actually have a hidden door here; it must be his escape route."
"Indeed, I can't believe this guy is so cunning that he left himself a way out. We've been waiting up there for so long; he might have already slipped away."
"By the way, Captain Yan Qing, has your team found any trace of Klick? You arrived first, and since you discovered this hidden door, has anyone gone inside to check?"
Upon hearing these words, everyone's gaze shifted in unison to Yan Qing.
Yan Qing stood tall like a pine tree, his expression stern. He merely cast a brief glance at Jiang Ming before quickly averting his gaze again, the depth of his eyes leaving others perplexed.
He spoke slowly, his voice steady and powerful: "One of our team members has already gone in to investigate but found no trace of Klick. It's very likely that he has escaped. The corpses here are evidence that he extracted the Psychic Ability from his subordinates for his own use."
As Yan Qing explained, the crowd turned their attention back to the corpses and the imposing door behind the throne.
That door stood as a silent witness, bearing testimony to Klick's cruelty and ruthlessness.
