On the surface of the river, the moment Jiang Ming and Klick locked eyes, it felt as if time had frozen. Klick's mysterious figure gradually faded away above the water, leaving only gentle ripples behind, as if narrating that what had just transpired was not an illusion.
Yan Qing slowly turned around, his gaze fixed firmly on Jiang Ming, confusion and concern intertwining in his eyes.
“Do you know him?”
His voice shattered the silence.
Jiang Ming turned back, a faint smile gracing his lips, a smile that seemed to conceal many stories.
“I’ve seen him before.”
Yan Qing's brow furrowed even tighter. “Seen him? Where did you see him? Don’t you know he’s a criminal from the Deep Sea Sprite? He’s a wanted man with a hefty bounty on his head internationally.”
Jiang Ming's eyes darkened slightly, but his tone remained resolute. “I didn’t know who he was when I first met him. But don’t worry, I have no intention of letting him go.”
After saying this, a look of determination appeared on Jiang Ming's face, as if he had made a significant decision.
A shadow enveloped his features; in the next moment, he transformed back into his true form, spreading his massive and powerful wings. With a swift dive, he plunged into the depths of the sea.
The speed was so quick that Yan Qing barely had time to call out to him before he vanished beneath the surface, leaving behind only expanding circles of ripples.
“Jiang Ming!” Yan Qing shouted, his voice filled with urgency and worry. However, all that answered him was the sound of the waves crashing.
“What’s going on? Brother Yan, why did Jiang Ge dive into the sea alone? There are plenty of people down there,”
Jiang Wenyu said, her face filled with confusion. Her delicate features were etched with uncertainty as she gently bit her lower lip, pondering the reason behind Jiang Ming's actions.
Yan Qing shook his head, his eyes filled with confusion. "I don't know, but we're a team. We can't let him go to such a dangerous place alone. Let's hurry and catch up."
Fortunately, the Derived Potion that Yan Qing had injected still had a few hours left before it wore off. He took a deep breath, and his gaze became resolute.
Seizing this last opportunity, Yan Qing dove into the water. His form was agile, like a brave seabird soaring through the turbulent ocean.
Drui Feng helplessly waved his hand, a faint smile of resignation on his face. He knew that this adventure was now unavoidable.
He followed closely behind Yan Qing, entering the water with swift and decisive movements, showing no hesitation.
Jiang Wenyu made an elegant turn, vines spiraling around her body as if draping her in a layer of mysterious attire. She gracefully descended into the water like a fairy descending to the mortal realm—beautiful and enigmatic.
Jiang Ming sped through the depths, transforming back into his original form. His massive body resembled an indomitable battleship, effortlessly cutting through the currents.
He glided through the water with the agility of a fish, the sea parting beside him as if making way. In an instant, he arrived at the inner sanctum of the Deep Sea Sprite.
The familiar golden door radiated a mysterious glow. Without hesitation, Jiang Ming raised his foot and kicked it open with force.
The loud crash echoed in the silent space, announcing his arrival.
As expected, seated in the center of the main hall was Klick himself. His figure appeared particularly imposing amidst the lavish decorations; however, all Jiang Ming could see in his eyes was indifference and vigilance.
"Wow, buddy, you finally made it. It's hard to believe it's been three years since we last met," Klick said casually to Jiang Ming, wearing what seemed to be a friendly smile, though it never reached his eyes.
Jiang Ming scoffed, his eyes filled with derision.
"Don't try to play the family card with me. Our cooperation back then was purely out of necessity. But I'm curious about what you meant a few days ago."
His voice was deep and powerful, echoing in the vast hall.
Klick's smile faltered for a moment before he resumed his nonchalant demeanor.
"It wasn't anything significant. It was just that some of the brothers below didn't know better and accidentally disrupted the A Level exam held by the Pacific Ocean. I didn't expect you to participate in such a boring human exam. If I had known you were involved, I certainly wouldn't have allowed those fools to act like that."
Jiang Ming snorted coldly. "Enough with the flattery. I know your people wouldn't do such things without reason. Besides, only A Level and above Ability Users with combat experience can participate in the A Level exam. Don't tell me this was just a spur-of-the-moment attack."
Klick burst into laughter, though there was an eerie undertone to it.
"Haha, nothing escapes your notice, my friend." He stood up and took two slow steps toward Jiang Ming, each step seemingly laden with heavy pressure that made it hard to breathe.
"I received word from above that they say someone is currently in your team."
Jiang Ming closed his eyes, the air around him feeling as if it had solidified.
After a moment, he opened his eyes, looking at Klick with a piercing gaze that seemed capable of penetrating anything. "What do you mean by that? Are you trying to blackmail me?"
Klick circled around him, wearing a sycophantic smile. "How could I dare? Mountain Deity, you are the top combat force among our Ability Users now. I wouldn't be foolish enough to oppose you. I just want you to give me some face; otherwise, it would be difficult for me to report back to those above. Don't you agree?"
He crossed his arms and stood directly in front of Jiang Ming, grinning at him. The meaning behind his expression shifted unpredictably, making it hard to grasp.
Jiang Ming lowered his gaze slightly, a complex glimmer flickering in his eyes.
After a moment, he slowly opened his mouth, his voice cold and resolute. "Very well, I will let you go this once. But I hope you understand what should be said and what should not."
Upon hearing this, Klick burst into raucous laughter, the sound echoing through the vast hall, filled with a sense of triumph and arrogance.
"Rest assured, Mountain Deity. Since you are being so accommodating, I will certainly keep that person's whereabouts a secret. This matter will be known only to you and me; no one else will hear a word of it."
Jiang Ming's gaze suddenly turned sharp, piercing like a sword towards the attendants kneeling beside Klick.
"And what about them?"
Klick raised an eyebrow, nonchalantly replying, "They naturally won't say anything."
In the next moment, Klick swiftly gathered waves of light with his hands. In an instant, as the brilliance shone, all the Ability Users kneeling on the ground had their moisture drained away by Klick's Psychic Ability, transforming them into desiccated corpses.
In the blink of an eye, the once vibrant lives now lay sprawled on the ground, creating a spectacular yet horrifying scene of dried bodies.
Jiang Ming let out a cold laugh, his eyes filled with disdain and contempt. "You truly are ruthless; you can even turn on your own."
As Klick turned to flee, he heard Jiang Ming's words and glanced back, a cruel smile spreading across his face.
