Lin Han entered the dormitory with a dark expression. He saw Xue Wushuang cradling a newly hatched Golden Cloud Leopard, its body barely fifty centimeters long, resembling a tiny kitten with its eyes squinted and fur a soft golden hue.
Excitedly, Xue Wushuang lifted the Golden Cloud Leopard and exclaimed, "Lin, look! Da Miao is born!"
Lin Han nodded, not feeling much to say to this cat enthusiast. He headed toward his bed and replied in a flat tone, "Congratulations. Just don’t forget about the growth cycle of the Golden Cloud Leopard. I hope you can still carry it when the time comes."
He lay back on his bed, propping his legs up and closing his eyes. Seeing Lin Han's lack of enthusiasm, Xue Wushuang shrugged and continued to play with the little leopard.
The next morning, Lin Han heard the sound of the door closing and slowly opened his eyes. He glanced at Qin Luoxi's bed, noticing it was neatly made and empty, which made him sigh slightly.
Qin Luoxi really is dedicated. When we rescued you, he looked weaker than you do now, and yet here he is out for a morning run so soon after.
A voice came from above him; it was Xue Wushuang. "Fat Cat, aren’t you sleeping in?"
Lin Han was somewhat surprised. Usually, he had to urge Xue Wushuang to get up, but today she seemed different.
"When I saw you all fighting against that massive corpse, I couldn't even imagine it. It made me realize how weak I am. Lin, if I want to stand by your side with Dragon Tooth Squad in the future, I need to get stronger."
Xue Wushuang spoke seriously. Lin Han raised an eyebrow, feeling a stir in his heart but teased her on the surface instead.
"Get lost! Talking so ambiguously—I'm not into guys!"
"Who said anything like that?"
The two exchanged playful banter before getting up to wash up and leave the dormitory.
"War Goddess wants us to assemble. You should be fine with that, right?" Xue Wushuang glanced at Lin Han with concern.
Lin Han shrugged nonchalantly in response.
"It's nothing. I have the Steel Body talent, so ordinary injuries don't affect me at all. What about you? Have you signed the contract with your Golden Cloud Leopard yet?"
Hearing Lin Han's words, Xue Wushuang immediately deflated.
"Without a Level, only Thirty Levels seems insufficient."
"Then hurry up and level up! I've already reached Forty, and you're still not even at Thirty-Five."
"What?"
Xue Wushuang's eyes widened. "Lin, what level are you now?"
Lin Han replied flatly, "I'm at Forty."
"That's insane! How can I compare to you?" Xue Wushuang complained.
An hour later, in the academy's training ground, Wu Qinghong had changed from her usual style. She put away her leather jacket and switched to a tight black short-sleeve shirt, paired with military pants that matched the instructor's uniform, making her look much more capable.
The members of the Dragon Tooth Squad gathered together. Wu Qinghong looked at everyone and slowly began to speak.
"As for the matter in Wu City, I hope everyone will keep it confidential. This is an order from the academy. Regarding your participation in this operation, the academy will provide compensation and grant corresponding merits as a reward."
"However, the ceremony for awarding merits will be omitted; they will only be recorded in your personal files."
