The noisy sounds around him resembled a group of people engaged in conversation about something. Lin Han slowly opened his eyes, feeling a throbbing pain in his head.
Standing before him were individuals he did not recognize, all sharing a common trait. Dressed in white lab coats and wearing glasses that symbolized academia, they seemed to believe that everything could be measured and replaced by data.
Confronted by these unfamiliar researchers, Lin Han suddenly became fully alert. It was then that he realized he was submerged in an unknown viscous liquid of a light green hue. As he attempted to speak, the nutrient solution surged into his mouth.
Cough, cough, cough! Gurgle, gurgle!
A female researcher outside the nutrient chamber noticed bubbles forming at Lin Han's mouth and hurriedly called out to a nearby staff member. "The subject is awake! Remove the nutrient solution, or he’ll choke!"
The staff member quickly pressed a button, and the nutrient liquid began to drain away through a lower channel, allowing Lin Han to finally catch his breath.
Once he regained his composure and expelled the remaining light green liquid from his mouth, he tried to say something but was taken aback to find a glass enclosure separating him from the outside world. He tapped on the glass, signaling for it to be opened so he could speak.
However, the researchers ignored him and continued to huddle together, whispering among themselves. Instinctively lowering his head, Lin Han felt relieved to see that he was at least still wearing a surgical gown similar to those used in experiments. Otherwise, being surrounded by such a crowd would have been quite embarrassing for him in this academic setting.
The researchers looked at him with an inexplicable wariness, as if his awakening had caught them off guard.
"I want to see Wu Jiaoxi!" Lin Han shouted while tapping on the glass. It was evident that this enclosure was not only sturdy but also soundproof.
The researchers continued to gather around him, murmuring amongst themselves. Moments later, amidst the crowd of personnel, a slender figure clad in tight leather stepped through the door.
The researchers saw Wu Qinghong and respectfully stepped aside. When Lin Han spotted Wu Qinghong, he also let out a sigh of relief; Wu Qinghong's presence meant that at least his situation was safe, especially after he had just attempted to break the glass dome.
It was clear that this place was prepared for individuals with extraordinary physical abilities like them, but it had no effect on him. Just as Lin Han was about to speak and inquire about the specifics from Wu Qinghong, she picked up the microphone. Her beautiful eyes fixed on Lin Han as her cold voice echoed through the speakers in the nutrient chamber.
"Who exactly are you? Answer me."
"I am Lin Han. Aren't you my Instructor? Please, stop joking and let me out!"
Seeing Wu Qinghong's attitude, a sense of foreboding crept into Lin Han's heart. Could it be that his system's situation had been exposed? Was he going to be dissected for research?
Though his mind was in turmoil, he maintained a calm exterior.
"You say you are my Instructor, then can you tell me what exactly happened that day? What is your connection to Crimson Eye?"
Wu Qinghong's gaze was icy; even through the glass, Lin Han could feel a chilling aura penetrating his spine.
"What are you talking about? What is Crimson Eye? I want to know what happened to that enormous corpse! What is happening in Wu City right now?"
Lin Han suddenly slammed his hands against the glass, producing a series of loud thuds. At that moment, he could no longer maintain his composure and calm demeanor.
