At the entrance of the Military Academy, Lin Han stood there, momentarily confused about the situation. Just then, his phone vibrated, snapping him back to reality.
It was Qin Luoxi. Why was he calling me?
Lin Han answered the call, and Qin Luoxi's voice came through. "Did you pass the temporary assessment?"
Lin Han was taken aback by Qin Luoxi's abrupt question, but then he recalled the earlier incident where he mistakenly thought Wu Qinghong was a member of a cult, and a hint of embarrassment crossed his face. "I should have passed, but I might have caused a bit of a commotion."
"That's good to hear."
Qin Luoxi's response was brief, as was his usual style.
"Were you tested personally by Wu Jiaoxi?"
"No, it was probably one of the Instructors. They were quite skilled, but I could tell they didn't have any intent to kill, so they didn't go all out."
Qin Luoxi fell silent for a moment. "So, the other members of the Dragon Tooth Squad are all targets of the academy's assessment?"
Lin Han suddenly thought of Xue Wushuang, who was still recuperating in the hospital. "Yes, and today both Chen Huan'er and Zhou Qingqing reported that they were attacked as well. After confirming it was part of the assessment, they both met the standards."
"As for Han Fei, I don't have her contact information. She probably won't reach out to us either."
"Got it."
Lin Han hung up the phone, momentarily pushing thoughts of Xue Wushuang aside as he hurried toward the Academy Hospital.
Upon re-entering Xue Wushuang's medical room, he was met with a scene of chaos. Xue Wushuang lay on the bed with her mouth agape in pain; the bandaged areas on her body were seeping blood.
"What happened here?" Lin Han frowned.
Seeing Lin Han enter, Xue Wushuang looked at him with immense grievance. "Lin, after you left, a masked person suddenly appeared. Before I could even ask anything, they just attacked me without warning! Look at what they did to me!"
"You didn't fight back?"
Lin Han raised an eyebrow, seeing that Xue Wushuang was still able to complain, which meant his injuries weren't too severe. He let out a sigh of relief.
"Why didn’t you fight back? Even if you’re injured, you’re still a warrior. With Bloodthirsty Frenzy activated, you could have pushed him back. He’s definitely not in great shape either."
Taking advantage of the moment, I struck him with an electric blast to his left eye.
Xue Wushuang chuckled, raising his fist, but then winced in pain and sat back down on the bed.
"It seems you’ve passed this test," Lin Han said while stroking his chin.
"What test? Could it be that they really aren’t here for revenge? I thought it was that Madwoman Han Fei seeking retribution."
"Doesn’t matter now. You need to recover quickly. Tomorrow is the day our Dragon Tooth Squad meets the new Instructor; don’t delay."
"Got it!"
The next morning, the sound of an alarm clock echoed through the dormitory.
Qin Luoxi was the first to open her eyes and got up, heading toward the bathroom.
Lin Han felt someone pass by him and slowly opened his eyes. Noticing the light in the bathroom, he stretched and kicked Xue Wushuang, who was still sound asleep.
Xue Wushuang jolted upright, looking disoriented.
"Lin, it’s still early! The sun hasn’t even come up yet. What are you doing?"
Lin Han smirked.
