"This mission has a twenty percent chance of death!"
The senior's face was filled with fear.
This mission had been posted in the Mission Hall for an unknown length of time, possibly even longer than the Ice Domain Mission. Over the years, he had heard that students from the City of Death and Abandonment were countless, which led to this mission being neglected.
"Only a twenty percent chance? I thought it would be much worse. If that's the case, we'll gladly accept the points!" Xue Wushuang laughed heartily.
After the senior's dramatic description, he had imagined the Abandoned City to be a place where death was almost certain, but he was surprised to learn that the death rate was only twenty percent. The mission offered rewards in Academy Points—such generous compensation! It didn't seem like something typical of the academy at all.
Xue Wushuang smiled with delight, thinking he had stumbled upon a great bargain.
However, things were not as simple as he thought. If what the senior said was true, this mission had likely already been taken by someone else; there wouldn’t be a chance for them at all.
"I haven't finished yet!"
The remaining eighty percent actually meant they would become prey for the Youming Purple Fox, wandering eternally within the Abandoned City! They would never see the light of day again!
At that moment, the senior finally revealed the remaining eighty percent probability.
Youming Purple Fox?
Xue Wushuang's smile immediately froze on his face, replaced by a look of confusion. The senior nodded gravely.
The Abandoned City was once the capital of a great ancient civilization, but whatever had transpired there left it desolate and lifeless, shrouded in a heavy atmosphere of darkness. Those who were unfortunate enough to become lost within its confines, or who met their demise there, would transform into a soul-like creature known as the Youming Purple Fox. These beings were devoid of consciousness, driven only by an instinctive urge to merge with the inhabitants of the Abandoned City.
Upon hearing this, Lin Han was visibly taken aback. This meant that within the Abandoned City, there were countless former seniors and sisters he once knew. The prospect was both thrilling and daunting. Lin Han felt a pang of regret for his impulsive actions. If only he had taken the time to inquire more thoroughly before accepting this mission, he might have avoided such a precarious situation.
To be honest, if it had been like before when he was alone, Lin Han would have been absolutely confident in his ability to escape unscathed. But now things were different; he bore the responsibility for the entire Dragon Tooth Squad, and he could not abandon his comrades in arms.
"I'm sorry, everyone. This time it was my oversight. If you all are willing, we can go to the Academy Administration right now to request the cancellation of this mission. I will take full responsibility for any consequences that arise from it."
Even Lin Han could sense the dangers lurking within the Abandoned City. The terrifying enemies were not the most frightening aspect; rather, it was the uncertainty hidden within the shrouded mist that truly unsettled him. He worried that the mysterious dark aura would unknowingly transform him and his companions into mindless Youming Purple Foxes.
"Han Zi, do we really need to discuss this? Don’t worry! Even if we face mountains of fire or seas of water, I’ll stand by your side!"
At critical moments like this, Xue Wushuang was always the most reliable. He managed to force a smile onto his face and gave Lin Han’s shoulder a reassuring pat.
"Han Ge, I wouldn’t be where I am today without you. Although this mission sounds terrifying, Chen Huan'er won’t hold you back either!"
Chen Huan'er gripped her staff tightly, summoning her courage to speak up boldly.
