As she watched the heads popping up like moles, Yun Zhi Yue felt an urge to find a hammer and play a game of whack-a-mole. Suppressing her restless thoughts, she said, "You kidnapped me first, and instead of holding it against you, I even sacrificed myself to save your sister. Shouldn't you do something for me in return?"
Ye Zhi remained silent, casting her a sidelong glance.
Yun Zhi Yue continued meaningfully, "As a Zombie, it's impossible for you to stay with your sister forever. You'll only turn her into humanity's enemy. Right now, she's fallen out with Wei Shi; who would dare take her in? Help me out, and I'll make sure my sister gets into Yun's Supermarket."
It's a deal. Yun Zhi Yue smiled brightly.
Muttering to Ye Zhi, she watched as he burrowed back into the ground to search for the ammunition storage location of Wu Lan. However, less than half an hour later, he returned.
Yun Zhi Yue was surprised. "Are you saying Yin Liangchen is dying?"
"Yes," he replied. "He was injured by Shen Xingchuan earlier and then chased after Eighth Level Ice all the way into Tu Long's territory. That Ice Zombie girl seemed to have been insulted by Tu Long and died from it; he went berserk."
"Although he killed quite a few of Tu Long's men, he was heavily injured and managed to escape. Yin Liangchen initially planned to take advantage of his illness to finish him off, but Tu Long intentionally let that Zombie go, leading to a situation where both Yin Liangchen and Tu Long were caught in a trap."
Yun Zhi Yue shook her head. "No, that doesn't sound right. Yin Liangchen isn't that foolish; something's off."
"You didn't have time to think," Ye Zhi said. "Yin Liangchen swallowed the Eighth Level Ice Crystal Core. Tu Long was about to disembowel him when he didn't pay attention to you. Will you save him?"
"He swallowed the Eighth Level Crystal Core? We must save him! We can't waste a Crystal Core; having one more combatant is beneficial for us, especially since I’m being forced to save the world."
Time was of the essence; they could only hope they could reach Yin Liangchen in time for him to digest the Eighth Level Crystal Core.
Ye Zhi first took away the treated Ye Yao and then led them underground straight toward Yin Liangchen’s location. With just one Eighth Level combatant, their chances of breaking through were slim.
However, if Yin Liangchen advanced in level, everything would change. He would come to notify Yun Zhi Yue; he certainly had his own plans.
When the three of them emerged, swords and knives had already carved open a gaping wound on Yin Liangchen’s abdomen, blood pooling around him.
"Who are you?" a man in his thirties with a buzz cut shouted angrily.
The ground trembled in response as buildings began to collapse; the earth element was particularly suited for demolition.
Seeing that Ye Zhi was an Eighth Level Earth Ability user, Tu Long's expression changed instantly. He quickly signaled subtly for his men to sneak out and fetch heavy weaponry from Wu Lan, but Ye Zhi wouldn’t give them that chance.
Tu Long led his men forward to entangle Ye Zhi, creating an opportunity for his subordinates to escape while momentarily neglecting Yin Liangchen.
Yun Zhi Yue stealthily approached the severely injured Yin Liangchen, with Su Shou pressing against his abdominal wound.
Yin Liangchen had sustained numerous injuries—burns from electricity and deep cuts—showing that he had truly risked everything for this Crystal Core. In this apocalyptic world, everyone was fighting for their lives.
As his consciousness gradually resurfaced, stirred by the surge of power within his body, Kisaragi opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was that sweet face, reminiscent of candy, which he had always found enchanting.
Yun Zhi Yue was the kind of girl who was more grounded in reality than he was, yet for some reason, she always made him feel unworthy.
Take this moment, for instance. His mind was filled with thoughts of the Crystal Core, and he had been indifferent to her disappearance. Yet when he found himself in a dire situation, it was she who pulled him back from the brink.
He wanted to ask her why she had saved him, but he felt it unnecessary. The answer would surely not be what he wished to hear. Compared to Shen Xingchuan, he truly felt undeserving.
