On the fifth floor, Yun Zhi Yue soaked in a crescent-shaped black bathtub, contemplating her next move. This body lacked any abilities, and the World Will had already bestowed upon her the greatest advantage; there was no way she could further arm herself.
Everyone around her was still in the observation and testing phase. Once she lost her air of mystery, she would struggle to maintain control over them. In this post-apocalyptic world, stealing and killing were as common as eating; without strength, one was utterly defenseless.
The best course of action was to quickly win over Shen Chuan, making him work for her. However, it seemed he truly held a grudge against her. Years ago, her father had wanted to teach him a lesson, after all; he couldn't stand the thought of that boy taking advantage of his daughter. It was only natural for a father to feel anger when his daughter was wronged. The scar on Shen Chuan's face had been an unfortunate accident caused by a mishap in the store.
He was undoubtedly furious about her agreeing to divorce so readily. Sighing, she realized that even before the first body had arrived, this man had already gotten involved with her Puppet Body. How could he be so shameless?
It appeared that before she could deal with Shen Chuan, she needed to get close to Yin Liangchen. Otherwise, like a toothless tiger, she would only be skinned and devoured.
After finishing her bath, she decided to take a short nap. After all, there were plenty of goods to be cleared out every day. After closing time, she would need to restock the shelves—a tiring job indeed. If only she could hire a few employees...
Lost in thought, she drifted off to sleep while more and more people filled the building.
Most shopping carts were filled with water and bread; these were easy to carry since cooking was a rare luxury in this world. After gathering their supplies, everyone moved up to the second floor, which was several times larger than the one below. The space felt completely disproportionate; from outside, one would never guess such a vast area existed within the building.
Not only were there men's and women's clothing, but also shoes, bags, bedding, tents, and various other living essentials—all very well stocked.
On the third floor, the space shrank again but was neatly organized with an array of medicines that made everyone's eyes light up. While food could sustain life, medicine could save it; for those who were ill, these drugs represented hope for survival.
Moreover, the prices of the medicines remained reasonable and comparable to those before the apocalypse; they offered a wide variety as well.
After some frantic shopping, everyone gathered at the elevator entrance leading to the fourth floor, which had yet to open.
Curious newcomers asked what lay on the fourth floor and why it remained closed. "We asked before," someone said. "The owner mentioned that going up requires payment—one thousand Crystal Cores per month as a membership fee—and after that, time spent inside is charged by the hour."
"One hundred Crystal Cores per hour," another added. "They didn’t even say what’s inside! Our ability upgrades depend entirely on Crystal Cores; not every Zombie has them either—there’s hardly enough left over for her! No one has ever gone in there; it’s not open to outsiders."
This sparked immense curiosity among the crowd. Even if they couldn’t enter, they were eager to know what lay beyond those doors.
Many turned their gazes toward Yin Liangchen; he seemed to have an unusual relationship with the owner—surely he must know something?
Yin Liangchen stood with his arms crossed, saying, "Don't look at me. I’ve reached Seven Levels, and I've consumed way more Crystal Cores than you all. My pockets are cleaner than my face, so I can't get in."
"With such a high price, it must be worth it, right? What's inside?" someone asked.
Yin Liangchen chuckled to himself, lost in thought. "Yun Zhi Yue said that inside is a paradise for men. I really want to go in, but I haven’t got any cores lately. How about you all chip in and lend me some? I promise to pay you back once I've killed enough."
The others exchanged glances, their eyes darting around. Who would lend cores? In this world, what was in someone’s hand was theirs; no one would casually lend out their resources.
"Paradise for men? Am I thinking too much into this?" Feng Ling said, his eyes narrowing suspiciously.
"Do you like violence? If so, this place is also your paradise," Yin Liangchen replied with a smirk.
After nearly an hour of sleep, Yun Zhi Yue changed into a white loungewear set and padded down the stairs in bunny-eared slippers. She tore open the seal at the entrance on the fourth floor.
"I'm running a business here; if no one comes in, what does that say? Today, I'm letting one person in for free to see how long they can last. Let’s see if their luck holds out. Who's going in?"
